CCB Awarded a Jack Hopkins Grant

In May, Catholic Charities Bloomington was awarded a $20,000 grant by the Jack Hopkins Social Services Committee, an initiative of the Bloomington City Council. These funds will help cover the costs of therapy for youth who access care using CCB's sliding-scale payment system, which allows uninsured or under-insured, low-income individuals to access therapy. Typically costs for a one-hour therapy session range from $120-140 in Bloomington, but our sliding-scale system allows patients to pay a rate that is affordable for them, which can be as low as $12.

CCB is one of the only agencies within Bloomington to offer a large-scale, income-based payment option, and we are deeply grateful to the Jack Hopkins Committee for their investment in our work and our commitment to serving those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

CCB Celebrates Another Successful Year at Fairview Elementary

Catholic Charities Bloomington recently completed its ninth year of offering mental-health programing at Fairview Elementary School. Fairview Elementary is Bloomington's most economically disadvantaged and most racially diverse elementary school; nearly 85% of students are eligible for free-and-reduced lunch.

This successful collaboration removes transportation, logistical, and financial barriers that might otherwise prevent children from receiving mental-health care by providing therapy onsite and during the school day for students referred into the program by teachers and school social workers.

During the 2023-2024 school year, 32 students (over 10% of the school population) were served by this program. We are grateful for the ongoing support of Fairview Elementary staff and leadership in making this program a success, along with the dedicated work of the CCB therapists and interns who supported this program. We are also grateful to the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County and the Smithville Charitable Foundation for providing grant funding that supported this project.

CCB Begins New Partnership with the

Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington is one of our longstanding partners. Together, we have worked to help vulnerable youth access therapy and to build emotionally safe, trauma-informed environments for youth to learn and grow. Today, CCB and the Boys & Girls Club are looking forward to a new collaborative effort which will support the mental and emotional health of Boys & Girls Club staff. Working with youth is always a highly demanding calling, and youth workers often experience what's known as "secondary trauma" as they support children through challenging experiences. This collaboration, which is funded through a grant from the Indiana Youth Institute's Youth Worker Well-being Project, will allow Boys & Girls Club staff to easily access a limited number of in-person therapy sessions at CCB, and will also invite CCB staff into each "club" location in Monroe County to provide educational programs for staff focused on resilience, coping-skills, and effective self-care.

Why choose the Catholic Community Foundation?

Selecting where to invest your charitable giving is an important decision. For many donors, it is important for them to align their giving with their Catholic values. Our mission is faith-driven and at the service of Christ and His church. Investing with the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) strengthens all Catholic parishes, schools and ministries who benefit now, and for future generations. Pooling collective resources, CCF benefits the larger Catholic community and those we serve, financially strengthening the Body of Christ by working together and utilizing the power of investment for good.

  • CCF exclusively benefits Catholic ministries with an emphasis on local, Archdiocesan needs.
  • With a large investment pool of $242 million, CCF can provide greater interest returns and lower fees.
  • A large portion of the administrative fee goes back into the Catholic community through a matching gift program.
  • And most important, we follow the US Catholic Bishops’ ethical investment policy which promotes responsible investing aligned with Catholic teaching. You can rest assured that your investment is thoroughly reviewed to align with the values of the Catholic Church.
