Monique Finds Housing with Help from HSC and our Partners

Monique was experiencing homelessness and came to the Human Services Campus seeking assistance. HSC Staff in the Brian Garcia Welcome Center conducted an assessment with Monique to determine her specific barriers to getting back into housing. Working collaboratively, Homeless ID Project, Central Arizona Shelter Serivces (CASS) and HSC Navigators helped remove these barriers, and Monique is now happy in her apartment!
HSC Weather Relief Drive Kicks Off
ThirstAid Campaign Helps Save Lives
At the Campus we work to ensure respite and hydration during the hottest Phoenix months by providing indoor space and cold water for our guests. On May 17th, the HSC and participating Campus partners kick off the annual ThirstAid Water Drive. ThirstAid was launched several years ago by St. Joseph the Worker, whose supporters have made it an immensely successful endeavor. This year, the HSC is collaborating with A New Leaf, Brighter Way Dental, Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), Circle the City, Dept of Economic Security, ELAINE, Homeless ID Project, St. Joseph the Worker and St. Vincent de Paul to make this the most successful ThirstAid campaign yet! Donor Support Helps Individuals Reunite with Families and Friends
John came into the Brian Garcia Welcome Center in crisis, new to Phoenix and fleeing perceived threats to his life. Staff de-escalated the situation and found that he had just left prison in California and was traveling to family in Florida for housing. Due to his anxiety and paranoia about threats to his safety, he got off the bus in Phoenix and was not able to get back on to continue to Florida. HSC Staff were able to contact family and confirm he could stay there, and that it was a safe, stable environment. They worked with John to create a plan to travel while feeling safe to continue on his journey. Staff purchased transportation, escorted him to the Greyhound station, provided food so he would stay on the bus, and maintained contact by phone until he reached housing and supportive family in Florida.

Take a Tour and Be Amazed
The best way to understand homelessness and our vision is to take a tour of the Campus. Come learn about the collaborative work of over 20 non-profits on the Campus and how we help people end their homelessness. Tours are conducted on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 10am. Please contact Steve Davis at sdavis@hsc-az.org or 602-705-4719 to schedule your one-hour tour. We look forward to meeting with you!
