As builders and managers of affordable housing throughout Southern California, C&C Development and Orange Housing Development understand the value that quality housing and services bring to each of our communities by providing the opportunity for both families and senior citizen residents to enhance their life and lifestyle.

We know that the residents who live in our properties have compelling life stories to tell and we are helping them share their stories via a series of personal interviews titled “Helping People Live Better Lives.”   Our second interview is with David Pulido, a resident of our senior apartment community Villa Pacifica II in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  We greatly appreciate David’s participation in this feature series, which we will publish on a regular basis. We would welcome your comments at kcawood@c-cdev.com .
BUSINESS EXECUTIVE DAVID PULIDO BUILDS NEW RELATIONSHIPS AT VILLA PACIFICA II

“Everyone here has a positive attitude.
All in all, this is a tremendous place to live.”
David Pulido is a businessman, but more so, he is a family man.  He says the main reason he chose Villa Pacifica II in Rancho Cucamonga for his new senior apartment home is that his five siblings live close by, and for him, “family is the center of everything.”

David has a long and varied resume specializing in financial services as a Southern California business executive and mentor to small companies with an emphasis on marketing and sales. However, before launching his career, he served his country from 1970 to 1976 in the U.S. Army Reserves and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
MANY INTERESTS
Although David today has many interests from music to collecting sports memorabilia, it was the challenges of building and maintaining a successful small business that grabbed his intellectual interest and dominated his professional life until retiring a few years ago. He started his journey in the field of payroll processing that, he says, he learned from on-the-job experience over a 30-year period in what he calls “Corporate America.”

At the top of his resume is a stint with Bank of America’s regional office where he headed a staff of 30 professionals whose mission was to market BofA’s payroll processing services to a client base of some 6,000 small businesses in Southern California.  This is where David honed his sales and marketing skills to a fine point and ascended the bank’s managerial ranks.

But as so often is the case in Corporate America, BofA’s payroll processing unit was acquired by another financial services company, after which David joined a competing payroll company as a branch manager.  At this point in his career, David decided in 1997 to go in a different direction and start his own business as a sales and marketing consultant and a mentor to small business operators and young entrepreneurs in the greater Ontario area.
BUILDING ON HIS REPUTATION
Building a reputation for himself in sales and marketing with a focus on chambers of commerce, he served as volunteer chairman of the Ontario Chamber in 2002 and then in 2003 he was retained by the Fontana Chamber as its full-time president and CEO, a paid position he held until 2010. After his service with the Fontana Chamber was completed, David returned to being an independent consultant. Always busy, he provided sales and marketing training to small and mid-sized businesses and organizations such as the Hispanic Business Alliance until he decided to retire to spend more time with his family.

David moved into Villa Pacifica II in January and his new apartment has allowed him to spend even more of that quality time since most of the family members live nearby. He also enjoys living in his new home, which he calls “top notch,” and the fact that it’s designed specifically for the physical needs of a senior citizen.

He especially likes the efficiency of his 697 square-foot, one-bedroom floorplan with the full kitchen and handicapped equipped bathroom. He says it’s also a great place to meet people and build relationships, something that David knows a lot about. “Everyone here has a positive attitude,” he states. “All in all, this is a tremendous place to live.”
