Food Delivery for low-income seniors
Beverly Bootstraps is now delivering food to some of the seniors residing in low-income housing in Beverly during this COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to provide food to low-income seniors that may not have the means to get to the grocery store, Beverly Bootstraps’ food pantry or community meal sites, as well as to ensure that this vulnerable population doesn’t risk traveling outside their home to access essential food items.
We will be delivering to four senior income-based sites: Turtle Creek/Turtle Woods, two Beverly Housing Authority sites and senior housing in Apple Village, covering 383 senior units. Bags will consist of shelf-stable and perishable items, be delivered every two weeks and distributed by Beverly Bootstraps staff, volunteers and the housing site staff. We thank our volunteers and all our supporters for making it possible to keep our neighbors safe during this challenging times.

Food Pantry changes to keep people safe
Visitors to the Food Pantry are now being given prepared bags of food based on family size. By changing to this model, clients now spend less time in the building and don't touch the food as they had before when they "shopped" for food in the Pantry.
We have also extended our daily Food Pantry hours in an effort to keep people moving through our space and eliminate congregating in the lobby. They are now:
Monday, Thursday and Friday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Tuesday: 2:00 pm – 6:00pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am – 6:00pm

It takes a village...
The changes in our program model, adhering to social distancing and limiting the number of people in the building has certainly changed how our staff has been working during this crisis. Some staff from all across the agency have changed roles so that they can help build food bags (pictured here) and deliver food to those visiting the pantry, while other staff members are working remotely to ensure we continue to operate during these challenging times and respond to the growing number of people in need of our Case Management services.

Help Feed Beverly
We have heard from so many that want to help, that are worried about how people will keep afloat during these challenging times, concerned that children will go hungry.
Beverly Bootstraps is here to Help Feed Beverly and to provide our community with ways you too can help give hunger the boot.
For those that want to help their neighbors in need, they can add their name to a centralized list of volunteers
here.
At this time the best way to help us during this crisis is to consider
making a donation
or even consider joining our
Circle of Hope.
By becoming a monthly donor, this will keep your support going, no matter how long this situation lasts.
Thank you for wanting to Help Feed Beverly!

Please save your Thrift Shop donations until we reopen.
We appreciate that during these stressful times people feel compelled to donate. We understand you are home and now have the time to clean out closets, basements, attics, and other nooks and crannies. But we are not in a position to accept items for The Thrift Shop at this time. Donations left by the door are not helpful since they are exposed to the elements. With limited staff, there is no one to retrieve the boxes and bags left outside.
Please pass this information to your generous friends who want to help.
We will, very much, need donations once we are cleared to resume business.
