Greetings!

As April comes to a close, I am hoping the warmer weather brings with it a time of healing and rebuilding of communities affected by flooding in both Iran and Afghanistan. According to UNICEF's most recent report, nearly 1 million children have been affected by flooding in Iran. As we all know, children are one of the most vulnerable groups in the event of natural disasters. Children are now facing houselessness, food insecurity, and lack of access to essential resources. At least 100,000 children have been forced out of schools due to the destruction of over 1,000 schools throughout the country.

When faced with this scale of destruction, we must not lose hope, but work together to help rebuild communities most affected by this disaster. There is no easy or quick fix, but I am sure the community will come together and recover. I urge you all to donate  to our flood fund as we work with staff and authorities on the ground to provide assistance.

With gratitude,

Thank you to Columbia, Princeton, and Yale University
Our Senior Advisor of Outreach and Development, Masoud Modarres, was in the East Coast for two weeks and participated in the Persian Parade in New York City where we had an informational booth, before holding a presentation at Columbia University and Yale University, in collaboration with the Columbia Iranian Student Association (CIST) and the Foundation of Iranians in Connecticut (FIOC), respectively. He also met with a group of Princeton University students in Summerset about collaborating to raise funds for flood victims. Masoud also met with officials from UNICEF-USA, the Persian Humanitarian and Cultural Association (PHCA), and Noor va Danesh, where he gave a presentation on Child Foundation’s programs and services. This trip resulted in sponsorship of more than 40 student and thousands of dollars raised for our flood fund.

If you are interested in hosting a presentation for your community, please contact Masoud here .
