Why Hen House? The friendly chatter before Worship on Sundays reminds us of a Hen House! Since Jesus identified himself as a Mother Hen and, as an historical farm church, we enjoy being God's ‘Hen House’ and welcome everyone (town, urban, and rural) to our Worship and other programs - and invite you to even make Zwingli your Church home. The United Church of Christ values all people!

From the Pastor

Happy 4th of July!

Our Worship last week focused on what our faith teaches us about freedom -- as St Paul wrote, in Galatians 5:13- 14  NRSVUE (Message) combined:

"For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, (rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.) For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment,

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

This Sunday's scripture (Luke 10:1-11) tells the story of Jesus sending out 70 of his disciples (students) to become apostles (messengers) and share the Good News of the Kingdom/Kin-dom of God. I guess you could call it a story of evangelism only it is quite different from what we often think of as evangelism. Jesus tells them to bring Peace and to give and receive hospitality.

I hope you will join us this Sunday for Worship and Community as we reflect on this story of Jesus and join together in music, prayer and Communion (we serve delicious gluten and dairy free bread and grape juice). I share the above prayer, Breathe Peace, to help us prepare for Jesus' sending all of us out into the world to be bringers of peace, hospitality, and the news of God's rule of love and justice (Kingdom/Kin-dom).

Blessings,

Karla
