May 4th begins Hurricane Preparedness Week both nationally and in North Carolina.

Inland impacts can be significant! As we witnessed last year, every tropical system is dangerous and impacts can be felt far away from the cone of the storm.  Preparation is more important now than ever! One storm can make a devastating impact on our lives!

May is Mental Health

Awareness Month

Mental health is essential to overall well-being at every age and every stage of life. Whether you're a student, a parent, a caregiver, or a county employee, your mental health matters. Taking care of ourselves and each other builds stronger individuals, families, and communities.

This May, Henderson County agencies are teaming up for the "Don't Drop the Ball on Mental Health" challenge!  Throughout the month, local agencies will take turns passing the ball, literally and figuratively, to shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health and to encourage support, connection, and open conversations across our community.

Follow along as the ball makes its way around the county, and join us in spreading the message that #YouMatterHendo. We’re all in this together.

Henderson County Celebrates Our Leaders

Fire Marshal Kevin Waldrup has obtained his Certified Fire Investigator qualification through the International Association of Arson Investigators. The IAAI-CFI qualification is a standardized evaluation of a fire investigator’s training and expertise. Investigators applying for IAAI-CFI certification must complete an extensive application requiring documentation, earn sufficient points for their achievements in education, training, and experience, and pass a comprehensive examination.

Kevin’s years of expertise and experience is a great asset to Henderson County. Congratulations Kevin!
