Dear HHA Members & Friends,
I did not expect to send a January message, however, I'm sorry to say there is sad news to share.
During the recent holidays, we learned of medical staff alumni who have passed and we want you as friends and colleagues to be aware.
Ramon Gustilo, MD
Former Chair, Department of Orthopedic Surgery. A legend, philanthropist and long time teacher and innovator. Although Dr. Gustilo departed Hennepin Healthcare some time ago, his legacy certainly continued to grow and many benefitted from his generosity and care.

Arthur (Art) Ney, MD
Former Surgeon, Department of Surgery. Art retired in 2020 and was highly respected as an exceptional surgeon and was HCMC's first trauma director, among many leadership positions he served. He was admired as a colleague, teacher and friend to countless people.

We have also followed news of a current physician who you may know, Dr. Shirlee Xie, from Internal Medicine. Dr. Xie presented to our HHA virtually during the height of COVID and became a spokesperson about the emotional burden healthcare providers suffered during that time. Dr. Xie was seriously injured in a hiking accident and is working hard to recover.

The interview acknowledges there is a GoFundMe account set up for Dr. Xie.
This is difficult news to share but I know you will appreciate the knowledge and information.
