Tuckahoe’s Patricia O’Bannon elected chairman
of Board of Supervisors
Tuckahoe District Supervisor Patricia S. O’Bannon will lead the Henrico County Board of Supervisors as its chairman in 2022, with Fairfield District Supervisor Frank J. Thornton serving as vice chairman.

O’Bannon noted how Henrico closed its most recent budget with a record surplus and now plans to provide a dividend equal to 2 cents on the real estate tax rate followed by a real estate tax rate reduction of 2 cents.

Andrew Newby named county attorney for Henrico
Henrico County has appointed Andrew R. Newby as county attorney.

Newby, who currently serves as a deputy county attorney for Henrico, will succeed Joseph T. “Tom” Tokarz II in the position. Tokarz is retiring after a career of more than 41 years with the County Attorney’s Office, including service in the office’s lead position since August 2020. 
COVID-19 testing at Richmond Raceway now available five days a week
The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) have expanded COVID-19 testing opportunities at Richmond Raceway. Appointments are now available Saturday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adding an additional day to the schedule will enable about 500 more people to be tested at the site each week.

This community testing center (CTC) is available by appointment only. Residents can schedule an appointment up to three days in advance at henrico.us/health.
Input needed on plans to make Bremo Road more pedestrian-friendly
Henrico County wants your input on plans to improve pedestrian access to Bremo Road, between Monument Avenue and Old Richmond Road. The project includes adding sidewalks and ADA ramps along with widening pavement.

Visit the website for more detailed information about the proposed improvements. The Department of Public Works has also created a survey where residents can submit comments about the project through Monday, Jan. 31.

Board of Supervisors to hold special meeting Saturday, Jan. 22
The Henrico County Board of Supervisors will meet for its annual retreat on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 8:30 a.m. in the Manager's Conference Room at the Henrico County Government Center.

The meeting is open to the public, but the board does not anticipate opportunities for public comment. Due to public health concerns for COVID-19, the public is encouraged to view the retreat online; attendees are required to wear a face covering.
