Blog: Eliminating Mother-to-Child Transmission of HBV in the US: A Call to Action 

With the release of the latest Viral Hepatitis Action Plan, it is vital to keep the elimination of perinatal transmission as a top priority. The barriers to "increasing the birth dose coverage to 85%" as outlined in the report, are multidimensional and extend beyond newborn vaccination. Our own Kate Moraras, MPH and Chari Cohen, DrPH, MPH, along with HBU partners remind us that elliminating new HBV infections require focusing on both infected mothers and their babies.
