City of Gaithersburg Honors MCCH Staff for Heroism
At MCCH's Seneca Heights Apartments, a permanent supportive housing program that serves 17 families and 40 adults, 24/7 staffing keeps our clients safe and secure. But recently, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to save a child's life when a resident came into the lobby screaming her infant son wasn't breathing.

Watch the video above and hear first-hand from MCCH Program Director Endrias Afework about his team's quick thinking and how they felt while being honored by the City of Gaithersburg for their heroic actions.
MCCH and Coalition Homes Explore
Innovative Solutions for Permanent Housing

At MCCH, we are committed to expanding the supply of affordable housing to help end homelessness. Coalition Homes, an MCCH affiliate, is the leading developer of permanent supportive housing projects in Montgomery County.

Last month, MCCH and Coalition Homes sponsored a tour of innovative permanent housing programs in Washington DC for 25 community leaders and partners. They traveled to three locations to see successful housing models for vulnerable people and to inspire future projects in our community.

We hope this experience will inspire new solutions to create a community where everyone has a safe, stable and affordable place to call home.
New Partnership Helps MCCH Clients Navigate Legal Barriers
For those experiencing homelessness in our county, there is a critical need for legal services to reduce or eliminate legal barriers to stable housing, employment and other regular sources of income.

To address this need, MCCH has partnered with Homeless Persons Representation Project (HPRP). HPRP will now operate a free legal clinic at our HBCAC Men's Emergency Shelter which will give our clients direct access to their services. This on-site clinic will help our clients transition out of homelessness more quickly and have solutions for their legal challenges.
MCCH's   2017 HOME Conference  will be held on November 6 at Johns Hopkins University’s Montgomery County campus. This annual conference promotes best practices to end homelessness and provides opportunities to learn from federal and state funders and policy makers.

Last year’s conference was attended by 250 professionals, representing 21 local nonprofits, as well as various local, state and federal government agencies providing homeless services and permanent housing programs. Attendees benefit from   educational tracks  targeting direct service staff, program managers, executive directors and public policy leaders. All sessions provide continuing education credits for relevant professionals.

Registration is now open. At this time, we are actively seeking sponsors to support this high quality conference.
Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that all Montgomery County residents have a safe, stable and affordable place to call home!

Sincerely,

Susie Sinclair-Smith, Executive Director
