Junior parents should be aware that all students entering 12th grade are now required by state law to be fully vaccinated against meningitis on or before their Senior year (ORC 3313.671).
The meningococcal vaccine helps to protect your child against meningitis, a deadly infection of the covering of the brain and spinal cord. Parents / Guardians of incoming seniors must provide the school with documentation from a health care provider on or before the first day of school indicating that the student has been fully vaccinated against meningitis.
A single dose of Menactra or Meneveo vaccine should be given at age 11 through 12 with a booster dose at age 16 years. If the first dose is administered at age 16 through 18 a booster is not needed. (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control)
If you have any questions about this policy or if you are unsure if your child has met this requirement please contact your HCP or Regina Hinterschied RN, School Nurse 614 237-5421 Ex. 10629 or email email@example.com
