Kylo - Handsome Boy

From his adopters Stephen and Harper:

'You'll be happy to know that he is doing great! Harper has been introducing him to agility training and just teaching him a lot of tricks in general. He loves to explore our property and follow the scent of every squirrel that has ever been on the land!

His favorite thing right now? Elbow rubs!! Almost sends him to sleep. Yep, who would have thought.

We can't believe it's been nearly a year since Kylo joined our family. Over that time, he has grown so much in confidence and is such an integral part of our lives. He loves every adventure he goes on, even if it's just a simple walk in the park. He thrives during training and we would love to continue this through agility training in the hope that he could compete in the future. We are so thankful to have him in our lives.'

Miss Molly Maguire

From Molly's mom Laurie:

'We adopted Molly in February 2024.

She is doing well, I think we will pass the “Canine Good Citizen” exam very soon. That said, there are “things” that still require vigilance and likely always will. But so far so good, we’re still making progress and she’s a total sweetheart most of the time, and all of the time with us!!'

Ruby - Therapy Dog

From Ruby's mom Cheri -

'In December 2021, Ruby arrived as a nearly one-year-old foster dog from Northern California Border Collie Rescue and Adoptions. Her early life was spent confined to a 10x10 outdoor pen, lacking proper socialization and care—a challenging start for any dog, especially a border collie.

To say she was hard to live with would be an understatement. We’ve worked hard and she has become a fun and exciting companion.

Recently, Ruby and I passed our evaluation to become a registered Animal Assisted Intervention team through Pet Partners.

I’m incredibly proud of her progress and excited to see how we can contribute to our community. We’ll begin our work in schools, engaging with children, and explore opportunities in hospitals, juvenile detention centers, and preschools to see where Ruby thrives.

It’s an honor to be a therapy team and I’m excited to start this journey with my girl.'

Nash

Nash came into rescue in Dec, 2023. He was picked up as a stray north of Sacramento. The shelter noted that he seemed weak in the hind end. He would have bursts of energy, then lay down a lot. After coming into rescue, we consulted with an orthopedic surgeon who determined him to have significantly dysplastic bones (abnormal bone development) in both hips and surgery was required. He had Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) in both hips, 6 weeks apart. Both surgeries were a big success and Nash quickly began to use both rear legs. He continued to build muscle mass over several months, and was adopted in April 2025.

Here is an update from his adopter Sarah:

'Nash loves cuddling with the kids for movies, and he’s teaching Marshall (his adopted brother) how to play chase. Nash likes to bolt out into the yard, looking back to see if Marshall will follow. The cutest things that Nash does is talking. He loves to tell us that he’s ready for breakfast and dinner in the morning and he is often pretty chatty on walks too. He is getting used to the car. We go for car rides 2 times a week. My kids love him so much. He sleeps under my bed and the kids like to get under the bed to lay next to him! Overall he’s doing great and we’re so happy to have him as part of the family!'

Helping dogs like Nash truly takes a village and we could not have saved this beautiful boy without the support of our amazing fosters and donations from our wonderful supporters.

Fostering Border Collies

Being a foster saves lives! We cover all medical costs, and provide dog supplies as needed. You can foster as much or as little as it works for you. Even short term vacation fostering would be very helpful. Our fosters are the backbone of our rescue and we could not save these dogs without them. Even if you are just curious about it, let's talk.
