Abilities of NW Jersey & Warren County College
Star Program
Star is a classroom and community-based collaboration between Abilities and Warren County College (WCC), with instruction provided on the WCC campus in Washington.
Star students will explore careers through internships and job sampling and will receive classroom instruction, interest assessment and soft-skill instruction, self-advocacy and career mentoring, job coaching, and supported community employment.
The goal for every Star student is employment. This is achieved through person-centered goal-setting, exposure to classroom and community-based instruction, job sampling, internships, and follow-along employment services.
Classroom instruction will include teaching both soft employment skills (i.e. how to address coworkers and how to engage customers) and vocational skills (i.e. how to punch in and other on-the-job task training). Classroom instruction will also incorporate basic problem solving and communication skills, money, counting, and customer service skills.

For students interested in continuing education, instruction will also include identifying educational opportunities and assistance with enrolling.
