Here I Stand! - Martin Luther
A Note From Pastor Linda
From Luther's Small Catechism:
What is baptism?
Baptism is not simply plain water. Instead, it is water used according to God's command and connected with God's word.
What then is this word of God?
Where our Lord Christ says in Matthew 28, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation Blessing and the Laying on of Hands:
Stir up in this beloved child of God the gift of your Holy Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, the spirit of joy in your presence, both now and forever. Amen.
The 95 Theses, which would later become the foundation of the Protestant Reformation, were written in a remarkably humble and academic tone, questioning rather than accusing. The overall thrust of the document was nonetheless quite provocative. The first two of the theses contained Luther's central idea, that God intended believers to seek repentance and that faith alone, and not deeds, would lead to salvation. The other 93 theses, a number of them directly criticizing the practice of indulgences, supported these first two.
On Sunday, October 28, we Celebrate the 501st Anniversary of the Reformation of the Church; that day (October 31, 1517) when Martin Luther defiantly nailed his 95 Thesis on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.
On Sunday at 10:30am we celebrate the Rite of Confirmation or Affirmation of Baptism for our 9th grade students and their families. These eleven students have been instructed in the faith, have completed service projects and participated in fellowship activities. They have designed a Faith Project that will be displayed in the Upper Commons area. They have demonstrated a working knowledge of faith AND life.
This week we pray for these young adults as they ready to say: "Yes, Lord, here I stand!" They are:
On Sunday be sure to congratulate each of these young adults-and then take a look at their Faith Projects and red Confirmation Stoles each one unique, speaking their own journey of faith AND life.
! It will be the color of the day- signifying the HOLY SPIRIT!
PS: See YOU ALL at Fall Clean Up at 8am THIS SATURDAY at 8am. Let's make our house look GREAT for this Festival Sunday! All ages welcome- just come! Treats, too! Sign up HERE or just come!

Got Questions? Get Answers.
Fall Sunday Series
Everyone has questions. Young children ask "why?" Teenagers ask "why not?" Adults question "what if?" Do you have questions about God, Jesus, the Bible? Do you have questions about life? Do you have questions for God about life? Every day, more and more people are going to Siri or Alexa or Google to find answers to their questions about and for God. I have a better idea: Come to Hosanna to "get answers."

In 1985 Anthony Ray Hinton was convicted of a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to die by execution. Who: Students Grades 7- Adult (Others welcome, kids Grade 6 and under can stay with an adult until 10:30 pm.)

This is an experiential educational event, participants will be experiencing one night without a home. Although it doesn't begin to touch the realities many face however, it does allow us to acknowledge the problem (homelessness, food insecurity, lack of affordable housing, livable wages, etc.), think about how we might be a part of a solution and develop a deeper sense of Gratitude. Giving even one night will make a difference.
