Welcome from the CEO

I am both honored and inspired as our regional delegation – the largest of its kind in the nation – embarks on the 52nd Cap-to-Cap advocacy program. I am particularly thrilled to be part of carrying on the legacy and rich tradition that harnesses a powerful collective voice for our region’s policy priorities in Washington D.C.

While I may be new to this longstanding tradition, it’s clear that Cap-to-Cap is an invaluable regional asset and unique experience that drives vision, alignment, and results. I find myself in the unique position of learning from your specialized expertise, experience, and perspectives, and look forward to engaging with you in advocating for our shared goals.

With months of planning and 13 distinct policy teams, we are prepared to accelerate pivotal discussions with our nation’s leaders, bringing a collective voice that will champion the regional policy priorities we've set forth for 2024:

  • Securing strategic investments in infrastructure to pave the way for a robust economy and lay foundations for greater community mobility, flood protection, public safety, health, and growth.
  • Enhancing regional resilience and sustainability to withstand climate and environmental challenges by pioneering policy shifts that enable the solutions needed to maintain our beautiful region for generations to come.
  • Fostering an innovative economic environment and position our region for success in innovations, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and technological advancement.

Our collective voices in Washington D.C. will amplify these goals, bolster our potential, expand our economic landscape, advance cutting-edge industries, and bring about infrastructure investment and opportunity for high-quality jobs. Together, we will champion these priorities, shape the policy landscape, and move California’s Capital Region toward greater prosperity.

Your Metro Chamber staff team is busy preparing for our collective success on the Hill, but always available to assist in any needs you may have before we depart. Please contact me if we can be of assistance. We will have more information about Cap-to-Cap 2024 Policy Priorities for your reference in the coming days. You’ll be notified as soon as that resource is available to you.

In the meantime, I want to thank you for joining the Metro Chamber – whether as a longstanding or a first-time participant. The leadership engagement that Cap-to-Cap provides is an example of unity, purpose, and dedication. I look forward to seeing you in our Nation’s Capital.

Sutter Health sponsors bike share passes

Cap-to-Cap participants can bike through DC thanks to Sutter Health! Capital Bikeshare passes can be picked up at the Hospitality Desk. Capital Bikeshare allows a rider to “borrow” bikes from convenient kiosks and return them to stations throughout the city. Bikes can be used to ride to a meeting or even sightseeing around D.C.

Don't miss the Legacy Gala

After a successful day of lobbying, join us for a formal evening of fine food and entertainment to celebrate the legacy of our regional collaboration and historic wins for California’s Capital Region. Our Legacy Gala will be held at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery on Tuesday, April 16th.

With visual arts, performing arts, and new media, the Portrait Gallery introduces you to the people who have shaped the country—poets, presidents, actors, activists, visionaries, villains, and everyone in between. This thought-provoking gallery will be the backdrop for our black-tie event.

Worried about our carbon footprint? Worry no more!

SMUD is sponsoring offsets to reduce our delegation’s carbon footprint by retiring greenhouse gas credits for each Cap-to-Cap participant.
