Internship Soiree-The Smart Choice

By Sudan Britton

The Fall 2022 Internship Soiree was held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the SEED Center.

The Internship Soiree is an after-hour event for students seeking internships with an employer.

The Internship Soiree allows students to seek internships in a more relaxed setting than a traditional career fair.

"I advise other students to attend the Soiree because the employers were excited to learn about me as a student. The event allowed me the opportunity to network with potential employers," McNeese accounting student Katelin Rogers said.

At the Soiree, students spoke with employers and learned about the expectations of an internship.

The president of McNeese, Dr. Daryl Burckel, said changing students' lives and investing in their success is a big part of the Internship Soiree.

Andrea Burton, director of Career and Professional Development Services said HandShake is where all events, jobs and internships are posted for students.

The Renaming of Contraband

The Contraband team presented a proposal Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the SGA meeting to inform the student body, faculty and staff about the disturbing history of The Contraband. Together we can make a difference in our student publication; we cannot do it alone. We ask the McNeese students to vote to rename the student publication. Your vote matters!

What is The Contraband?

A student news publication at McNeese. We inform students about the latest news and convey stories to our targeted audience.

History:

McNeese Contraband has been around since 1939 and has caused backlash and controversy amongst black students at the university.

“We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference. It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

-Nelson Mandela
