A different kind of Labor Day

Hi there! I hope this finds you well and enjoying this last gasp of summer weather.

I don't know about you, but the concept of a three-day weekend sure has changed for me. It used to be a time when the shop would be very busy, especially for Labor Day weekend when we would have our annual stash sale. But like just about everything right now, this year is different.

As I'm sure you can imagine, it's impossible to do the stash sale the way we've always done it. Filling the shop with bargains and people just isn't wise right now for anyone. So hold on to things you want to cull from your stash and when this pandemic is past us, we'll plan the sale then.

In the meantime, Ewenice and I are here for you with lots of pretty yarns and fibers, just like always, and we have some special things coming up, too.

from 12-4

If you need a change of scenery without going too far, I hope you'll stop in for a visit. Plenty of hand sanitizer and masks are on hand and I'm limiting the number of people who can be in the shop at one time so that we can all maintain distances recommended for safety. The restroom is closed, though, so plan accordingly.

As for me, I'm doing well. I miss being able to go places and I'm really tired of wearing masks, but it's what is needed for the moment, so we soldier on! I think when we are out of this need to be so cautious and wear a mask all the time, it's going to feel really strange to be in public without one on. And frankly, I kind of like that no one can tell for sure if I'm muttering under my breath or scowling at something on the computer screen. It's kind of freeing in that way! But I do have a hard time recognizing folks, so if you come in and I don't know who you are, don't be surprised.

As always, thanks so much for your ongoing support. The online shop is open 24x7 and I'm working on getting more things listed there, so even if you aren't comfortable venturing out, you can still have access to your favorite yarns and fibers!

There are predictions that we may be in for a cold winter. No worries, we've got you covered! James from Oregon's own Imperial Yarn is here in several pretty colors. Each 8-ounce skein has a generous 120 yards, enough to make a pretty cowl that's sure to keep you cozy through whatever winter brings. Knits up quickly on US 15-19 needles. Limited quantities.

We are participating in the Have a Ball Fall Crawl along with 35 other shops across North America. There are prizes and fun and Zoom live sales and it's all a grant experiment that we hope will be great! More details coming soon.
