We are just about at the halfway mark of 2021... but before we get too far into the future, I want to reflect one last time on 2020 with through our Annual Report , which is now available for your perusal. While last year was enormously challenging, I remain exceptionally proud about how our Club was able to meet the moment. I hope you will spend a few minutes reading through some of the brighter and more hopeful highlights of last year.
Moving on! As we close out the school year, we are celebrating our members’ many accomplishments. Just a few weeks ago, we held our annual College Signing Day. During this ceremony, our high school seniors announced which colleges they would be attending in the fall and shared their insights about the application process with our younger members. (Read more below). We are also getting ready for our much-anticipated “Banquet of Champions.” During these gatherings, we bring our members together to acknowledge their participation in various programs over the year. These events are always a great show of camaraderie, encouragement, and peer support.
And now that we are in June, it’s time to prepare for summer camp! We are especially excited that our 2021 summer campers will be the first children to experience and explore our BRAND NEW facility! Be sure to sign your campers up by June 18th! Camp parents will also get an early preview of our amazing Clubhouse during orientation. (Click here or read more about Summer Camp below).

Looking ahead, our Alumni & Friends Golf Outing has been rescheduled for July 8th at Brookville Country Club. Stay tuned for details about a new date and place for the Tennis portion of our outing. And believe it or not, we are already making plans for our September 18th Gala, which will take place on the grounds of our new Clubhouse, under the stars. The theme for this year is “Dreams Do Come True...” which is apropos, just ask our College Prep graduates!
Wishing you a wonderful start to the summer!

College Signing Day
On Wednesday, May 19th, Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club marked the culmination of our College Prep program with our annual College Signing Day. Each of our teen panelists announced which school they plan to attend in the fall of 2021, as well as their intended major.
One highlight of the evening was a check presentation from one of our College Prep program funders, Long Island Community Foundation, with special guest Marie Smith, Director of Donor Relations & Communications at the Foundation.

Keystone Tackles Climate Change!
Each year, Keystone members create a project as part of their national charter. This year, the theme was "There is no PLANet B." Part of their project involved conducting an educational workshop for our elementary school members to teach them the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. To make the lesson both fun and memorable, the teens collected a variety of recyclables and challenged the younger members to build “boats.”
Working in teams, on a sunny afternoon our elementary school members gathered to build their recycled-materials watercrafts. The project culminated in a “Slip & Slide Regatta,” where each boat tested its sea-worthiness and racing capabilities. Watch the outcome in the video below!
