County Administrator John A. Budesky is pleased to announce the appointment of W. R. (Randy) Hardman III, P.E. to Director of Public Works. Hardman, previously the department’s deputy director, assumes his new role on August 16.

Hardman joined the Department of Public Works in 1995 as a civil engineer and was promoted to deputy director in 2014.



“Randy’s dedication to Hanover County and tenure with Public Works makes him the ideal choice for director,” Budesky said. “He has a thorough knowledge of the critical services the department provides our residents. Randy will be a positive force moving forward.”

From FARM to TABLE! Food so good it will have you saying “that’s my jam!”

Hanover County Virginia Cooperative Extension hosted “Jam’n Jam” camp for kids to learn how our favorite foods get from the farm to our table. They visited Agriberry Farm to pick blackberries and raspberries, then headed to the kitchen to make jam, ice cream and popsicles!

We hope they saved us a bite!

Advocate for children involved in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court process in Hanover and Caroline County by applying to be a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.

The CASA program trains and supervises volunteers who gather information that is shared with the court in juvenile dependency cases. CASA is accepting applications for its next training session for those interested in serving on behalf of abused and neglected children.

Is there a project you’ve been putting off that you could accomplish with a group of volunteers?

Team Hanover will be participating in the National Day of Service on Monday, September 11. Organizations can participate in Hanover’s 9/11 Day of Service by providing volunteer opportunities for Hanover employees.

Buckle up, Hanover!

First responders took part in the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' latest campaign encouraging motorists to save a life by always using a seat belt.

We were lucky to have such a talented young mind joining us as an intern this summer!

Demond Morris is a student at University of Virginia, supporting us in administration, finance, planning and more.

County Administrator John A. Budesky has worked closely with Demond over the past couple of weeks. These two are proof that Hokies and Hoos can play on the same team!
