Board of Supervisors to hold Special Budget Meeting Wednesday

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors will hold a Special Budget Meeting on Wednesday, February 26 at noon.


County Administrator John A. Budesky will present his recommended budget. There will be additional budget presentations by: 


  • Dr. Lisa Pennycuff, Interim Superintendent of Schools
  • ⁠Colonel David R. Hines, Sheriff
  • Chief Christopher J. Anderson, Fire-EMS
  • Catey Dickensheets, Director of Human Resources
  • Matt Longshore, P.E., Director of Public Utilities


Planning public hearings begin at 6 p.m.

Mechanicsville-Ashland Local's parent company, Lee Enterprises Inc., was the victim of a cyber-attack causing a halt in printing newspapers.

Hanover teens earn valuable experience planning Teen Summit RVA

Five members of our Hanover Youth Service Council have spent months planning Teen Summit RVA alongside students from across the region.


High schoolers will come together in March for a day of inspiration, learning and connection. From expert speakers to interactive sessions, this event is all about empowering the next generation of leaders.

Ashland resident Jody Lynn Allen uncovers a long-overlooked part of Hanover County’s history in her new book, "Roses in December: Black Life in Hanover County from Civil War to Civil Rights."

Registration open for summer junior 4-H camp

Registration is open for the Hanover, Goochland, and Powhatan junior 4-H camp, which will take place July 14-18 in Williamsburg.


From sunrise to sunset, campers will dive into action-packed classes, cool off with free swim and enjoy recreation time. Plus, every night brings evening programs and unforgettable campfires!


Hanover, Goochland and Powhatan residents ages 9-13 will enjoy five days and four nights of non-stop fun for $400. Meals, a camp t-shirt and class supplies are included. Spots fill up fast — secure yours today!
