From programs for all ages and abilities to special events, classes and volunteer opportunities, there’s something for everyone to explore in the new year.

Set your goals, try something new and find your next favorite activity right here in Hanover.

Important dates for homeowners

As the new year gets underway, Hanover County residents have several important property-related deadlines coming up — and now is the time to check your eligibility and take action. Explore the details below to make sure you don’t miss a key date.

Land Use Program may lower tax costs

Hanover County’s Land Use Program may lower tax costs for some residents by assessing their property at “use value” rather than market value.

To learn if your property is eligible for the program, visit our Land Use Program webpage.

Applications will be accepted through Feb. 1.

Real estate assessment informal review period open

The Hanover County Assessor's Office informal review period runs now through Jan. 23.

Any property owner can contact the Assessor's Office to discuss their proposed assessment or request a review of their property. Visit our "Appeal My Real Estate Assessment" webpage to learn more about requesting an informal appeal.

Applications open for elderly or disabled real estate tax relief

Hanover County is accepting applications for its real estate tax relief program for elderly or permanently disabled residents.

Visit our Real Estate Tax Relief webpage to see if you qualify.

The application period ends March 3.

Hanover DASH launches free rider app

For Hanover resident John Morel, Hanover DASH is more than a ride — it’s independence, confidence and a connection to the community.

“It changed my life,” he said.

The new Hanover DASH mobile app makes scheduling rides easier than ever. With just a few taps, riders can book trips, pay and track their driver in real time — giving riders and families peace of mind and more flexibility.

Watch the video and read John’s full story in The Hanover Review to see how Hanover DASH is opening doors for residents 65 and older and individuals with disabilities.
