National Night Out kickoff event this Saturday

Join the Sheriff’s Office at Green Top Sporting Goods this Saturday, July 29 to kick off National Night Out. Members of law enforcement will be there along with interactive displays, children’s activities, a Fire Department safety house and a Medevac helicopter. The event runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.


National Night Out is Tuesday, August 1. Last year, Hanover's NNO celebration ranked first in Virginia and third in the nation for communities of a similar size. We hope to see you there!

Community Services Board seeks nominations for Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence


Nominations are now open for the Jean C. Harris Award for Excellence. The award is given to those who demonstrate outstanding contributions related to mental health, substance use and developmental disabilities.



Community Services Board established the annual award in honor of long-time board member, community volunteer and advocate Jean Harris, who compassionately dedicated her time and energy to helping those in need.

Hanover Youth Service Council is

collecting school supplies

The Hanover Youth Service Council is collecting school supplies for Tools 4 Teachers. The organization supports Hanover County middle and high school students and teachers with donated supplies.


Collection boxes will be located throughout the county during the month of August. If your organization would like to sponsor a box, email Youth Services Specialist Morgan Lindsay.

Virginia’s Road to Revolution Heritage Trail relaunched at the home of the Revolution’s greatest orator, Patrick Henry.
