Hanover shares major investments to parks in State of the County address

Big things are happening at Hanover’s parks — and it’s all thanks to you.

 

From new playgrounds and paved lots to field lights and fencing, we’re making your parks safer, more accessible and more fun for everyone.


Hanover County Administrator John A. Budesky and Economic Development Director Brandon S. Turner outlined accomplishments and priorities during the 2025 State of the County address, highlighting a year of growth, strategic investments and partnerships.

VDOT searching for feedback on two transportation studies

VDOT is conducting two transportation planning studies in Hanover County — and your input is crucial! Recommendations could become future projects funded through VDOT’s SMART SCALE program and other transportation initiatives. 


The Bell Creek Road study seeks feedback on proposed concepts and alternatives that will improve safety and traffic operations from Route 360 to Cold Harbor Road.

The purpose of the Meadowbridge Road study is to analyze the corridor between Azalea Avenue in Henrico and I-295 in Hanover.

Hanover Fleet Services intern makes her mark as aspiring automotive technician

Patrick Henry High School senior Kelsie Stanley is turning her passion for cars into a career. Through an internship with Hanover County Fleet Services and hands-on learning at The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology, Kelsie is gaining real-world experience and paving the way for other young women in the automotive field.

 

Her story shows the power of internships and technical education — and how real-world experience helps students succeed.

Featured in the latest edition are Mechanicsville residents Kari Magner and Cullen and Brittany Brightwell. The trio founded The Lucky Paw Foundation after losing several beloved pets — and now their nonprofit supports animal shelters and rescues across Virginia.


Through donations, community events and partnerships, the foundation helps with supplies, medical expenses, adoption fees and more.

Board recognizes Small Business Saturday

The Board of Supervisors presented Hanover County Economic Development and the Hanover Chamber of Commerce with a proclamation at last week's meeting recognizing Saturday, Nov. 29, as Small Business Saturday.

Supervisors to host Western Hanover

Town Halls

Beaverdam District Supervisor Jeff S. Stoneman and South Anna District Supervisor Susan P. Dibble are hosting a Town Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Montpelier Recreation Center and Library, 15302 Clazemont Road.

Supervisor Stoneman is also hosting a Town Hall on Monday, Dec. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hanover County Administration Building Board Room, 7516 County Complex Road.

Hanover searching for feedback on Route 1 Gateway Small Area Plan

Hanover County is developing a Small Area Plan for the U.S. Route 1 corridor between the Chickahominy River and the Town of Ashland, and we want your input! This plan will guide how development and redevelopment occur in the area — helping to shape its look, feel and future.


Take the online survey at engage.hanovercounty.gov/route1plan to share your thoughts on:


  • Design and visual preferences for the area
  • Improvements you think are needed
  • The types of businesses you’d like to see along the corridor


Your feedback will help create a plan for this important Economic Development Zone.

Stormwater from roads, buildings, lawns and parking lots carry pollutants to streams and rivers to the Chesapeake Bay. Hanover County is proactive in protecting local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay from pollution.
