Cherrydale Lake is the new home for nearly 40,000 fish and they moved in pretty quickly. It took less than two minutes for fathead minnows, redear shellcrackers and coppernose bluegills to swim through the tube and into the lake!
The first of three restocking events signals that the Cherrydale Lake rehabilitation is almost complete. The state-funded project will help reduce sediment and pollutants from traveling into the Chesapeake Bay.
For the next three years, the lake will be will be catch and release only so the fish can mature and reproduce. Cherrydale is a private neighborhood lake and not open to the public.
