Grants

Greetings from the 2026 Grants Committee.

This summer, our Grants Committee has been busy at work refining the Grants Process for the 2026 Grants Season. We’re streamlining our process so it will be more accessible, equitable and efficient for the grant applicants as well as the screeners.

This year’s drastic cut in state funding to the Broward Arts Community makes FAB’s Mission to financially aid the arts, more important than ever. To ensure that our program is a success,

we need your help to screen and evaluate our many worthy applicants. We look forward to the return of our many veteran screeners and welcome new members to join us. When you participate in the Grants Committee, you have the opportunity to become personally involved in supporting the many diverse arts organizations in Broward.

February 5 to mid-March is the time period when the Grants Committee action takes place…

Please reserve time during this period to work with us! Your estimated time commitment will

be a total of just 15-20 hours.

Some up coming dates to mark on your calendar are:

  • January 8th - Captains’ Virtual Training
  • February 5th - Kick off Training for screeners at Community Foundation of Broward
  • March 7th - Deadline for Screening Team wrap up meetings
  • May 8th - FAB’S Annual Grant Awards Ceremony and Reception at Bonnet House Museum and Gardens

Please email us or give us a call to join the Grants Committee. You will be glad you did, plus we will be happy to have you as part of our team.

Warm regards,

Judy Zucker and Judy Feldman

Membership

We're excited to share some updates about our membership program, which plays a vital role in fueling our annual grant pool. This year, we have set an ambitious goal of recruiting over 30 new members to meet the growing demands of grant requests we receive from our expanding arts community. We greatly appreciate your referrals to help us achieve this target.

We're thrilled to welcome three new members to our FAB family: Marion Fass, referred to us by Ellen Fischer; Anna Sorensen, referred by Cindy Eden; and the return of a FAB Founding member, Marsha Levy. (Marsha has rejoined us in light of recent state budget cuts, reinforcing her commitment to supporting the arts through FAB.)

Thank you for your continued support as we expand our reach and impact in the arts community! To refer a member, email or call Kat Sierra, Director of Operations. You may also visit FAB'S website: https://fundingartsbroward.org/membership/, or bring a friend to our Town Hall meeting and Season Kick Off event at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on September 26, 2024, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. FAB Fun Programs

The Programs Committee of Funding Arts Broward is pleased to present the 2024-2025 season of events. We have planned an exciting and diverse array of happenings that represent the mission of our organization and that connect FAB members and guests to the vibrant Broward arts community. We hope our members will use one of the various events as a springboard to encourage new and prospective members to join the important work that we do. Please note some of the new venues and activities we have planned as well as some traditional favorites. We continue to highlight a selection of our grantees’ signature performances as well as educational opportunities such as “lunch-and-learn” gatherings. We are especially excited to support other FAB committees and the New Initiatives Task Force this year with programs related to the organization’s newest goals, while responding to the requests and suggestions made by members through recent surveys. Above all we hope to expand audience diversity, build community, support local arts organizations and see robust attendance at the FAB events this year!

A preview of this season's events is available on our website here. Keep an eye out for FAB'S Event Bookmark, which was recently mailed.

FAB Grantee Spotlight

Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts

Welcome the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts as a first-time grant recipient for the 2025 cycle!

Using the innovative Lovewell Method, this organization empowers students to create original theatrical productions in just a few weeks, guided by professional staff. Participants generate themes, characters, and music from their own imaginations, becoming active contributors to the creative process. This fosters collaboration and equips students with essential skills such as creative problem-solving and team building.

Founded in 1989, Lovewell’s mission is to provide interdisciplinary arts programs that empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to find their authentic voices. Parents celebrate Lovewell as a welcoming space where every child plays an integral role.

Join us in celebrating the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts as they join our community of grantees! We would like to thank and recognize FAB members and "Be the Spark!" campaign supporters for their continued support of FAB and Broward arts community. Together we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of many.
