Hello Open Door Christian Church! My name is Andrea Swenson and I have had the privilege of joining this phenomenal leadership team this fall. My role here is the Community Outreach Director and my goal is to find a place where church and community collide. I get to be intentional about building relationships with people and groups where we can impact this area with the gospel in a tangible and meaningful way! My heart is for growing, mentoring, and discipling others, all the while encouraging believers to use their God given gifts, talents, and passions to share Jesus with their neighbor. As part of that, we want to use this beautiful property to offer opportunities to connect with our community. We were hoping we could kick off this Christmas season with a good old fashioned community wide Christmas get together with ice skating, sledding, petting zoo, local artisans, take home crafts, cookies and hot chocolate. Mother Nature and COVID had other plans, so we are paring down that party to a little more intimate setting, but still keeping all the fun. We are planning on a scavenger hunt, hay ride, photo booth, hot cider and s’more making (all socially distanced of course)! We are hoping to keep as much of the Christmas tradition as we can, with a big Christmas tree and Christmas carols playing through the day! It is shaping into a sweet little event and we hope it is an opportunity to build tradition and connection! This congregation has been so welcoming and encouraging to my family and I as we move into this new position. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you, hearing your hearts, and finding ways to encourage you to step out in your faith! Merry Christmas Church Family!
