Georgetown Baptist Church seeks to go into the world to bring people to Jesus and assist believers to become fully functioning followers of Christ.
"Equal Sacrifice, Not Equal Gifts"
Wade presented our 12-step Transition Plan/Process. We will have that available to the church as soon as we finalize our TT Communication Plan in the next couple of weeks. Our plan should address the many requests for more communication – WE HEARD YOU!
Currently, the team is busy addressing three of the 12 steps. Those steps and the current activities/tasks for each are as follows:

#2 Bring closure to previous chapter.
· This step will continue as long as the church family needs support. If you need support, please contact one of our Deacons or church staff by calling the church office.

#3 Provide clarity on roles and responsibilities.
·Work is ongoing as leadership reviews the Church By-laws, Committee structure, and Church Ministries. This work is parallel to the next step - #4.

#4 Assess current reality.
·LET’S CHAT!!! What better way to assess our current reality than listen to your input! In the next few weeks, we will kick off our church-wide survey distribution. We will use a resource called the Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). It has online entry capabilities as well as paper surveys to meet the needs of all of the church body. Start thinking about your GBC reality and what GBC can offer to further you and your family in your Spiritual journey.

Stay tuned – details coming soon!
What's Going on in the Church...

Wow what a busy few months we have had! GTown kids has been going, going, going! It has been such a joy for me to dive into God’s Word with your precious kids! We have been learning scripture, worshipping through music, and using teamwork in games. We started off the year with moving some classrooms around and creating a new check- in room! By doing this, we heightened the safety of our kids and can now better control the traffic coming in and out of our building.
The months seem to be flying by, but I think our busy schedule might have something to do with it! We have started a brand-new ministry here, within Gtown Kids. It’s called Path 56 and its purpose is to intentionally serve and minister to 5th and 6th graders. The name comes from the verses in the book of Proverbs. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” To better serve them, we renovated their portable and created a space specifically for that age group. If you haven’t seen it, go check it out!
We have had a few fun theme nights, but I think the theme night that has been the most fun was Parents Night Out! This event was planned to give parents an excuse to go out on a date and enjoy a night of relaxation for Valentine’s Day. Little did we know that it was kind of like a last hurrah before the “snowmageddon” hit! We rented a giant bounce house, pulled out the gaga pit and used on of our own tiny bounce houses. it was a great night filled with lots of food, games, and FUN!!
We have a lot of exciting things coming up in Gtown Kids and Path56. I am SO excited to be on this journey that God has for our church and our children’s ministry.
Love Y’all BIG,

Brette Gabbart

Hey Georgetown family!

Maverick here with a quick update on what is going on in our Youth Ministry. But first, I want to give a quick shout out to Brette Gabbart for starting up a new ministry that I got to be a small part in, Path 56! That is a ministry that has a huge potential for growth and a great transition from Children's Ministry to Youth Ministry.
The Reach is doing great! Really picking up steam with our students as they grow a deeper relationship with Christ. The goal that we are striving for is to get our youth leaders to be more intentional with discipling our students so that their faith can grow deeper and become theirs.
The Reach had the privilege to go on our annual Easter Retreat, which is always a great time. We ended the weekend refreshed and with 2 decision of rededication and a call to ministry! We are currently gearing up and getting ready for Falls Creek in the summer. These retreats and camps are so important because they let our students get away from the world and be surrounded by worship and God’s word.
In May, The Reach will be honoring and celebrating our graduating seniors through events, celebrations and more. We want to make sure they are fully equipped, in Christ, to take on the next chapter in their life.
Be on the lookout for more updates and contact me anytime. This has been an amazing year so far, and I’m “Super Pumped” for the future of The Reach!

As I begin my service as your new Senior Adult Minister, this spring season promises to bring much more than the usual beautiful flowers, grass and trees.
As all of you know, this position is both new to GBC and new to me. I am both honored and humbled at the support you have shown already and pray I can live up to your expectations. As a pastor for many years now, I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways but this new responsibility is special. We now have the ability to create and define this new role to benefit and serve everyone. As usual we have some exciting new activities planned but in addition to those, we have also some new programs we hope to “kick off” in the very near future.
Along with the new position, we have a new approach to caring for all of our family here at GBC and especially our senior family. Our “Care Captains for Seniors” program will provide an opportunity for all of us to participate at some level to care for our seniors and share the love we have for each other. “Care Captains” will be people who are willing to check on seniors by phone calls and/or visits. Some of the details will be shared at our first gathering on April 11th, the “New Beginnings Luncheon” and with your help and input I am sure it will be a great success!
For fun and fellowship for the adults, “The Prime Timers” are getting ready to plan events which will range from casual get togethers to interesting day trips and much more! If you would like to help with any of these events, give Janie Allen a call. She has done a great job for years making sure we all have fun! Stay tuned to “The Prime Timers”!
As we begin this mission together, I am asking each of you to give serious thought as to your personal priorities as we move forward and how we can better serve each other.
This is a “New Beginning” opportunity for all of us and we want to make it special for everyone!

For many of us, we hoped that the new year would bring about instant change for the better, as if there was some malfunction with 2020 and all we needed to do was press the reset button on December 31st.
We entered the year with optimism only to find that current challenges persisted and were accompanied by new ones. This constant piling on of difficult circumstances and often heartbreak, can drain us as believers. We know that there is peace through Jesus, but our minds continually shift our attention to more and more pain, fear, and disappointment. We know that God is in control, but we look at the situation as chaos with an attitude of frustration, and search for clarity or meaning in other places.
Our thoughts and emotions can be confusing when we read verses like Psalms 34:1 which says, “I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praise.” As we read that reminder to ourselves, we may feel like we are missing the mark. Worshipping may seem like more of a challenge in our minds, a chore that we must complete when we just do not feel like it.
In reality, it’s not a chore, or a challenge we have to overcome. Worship, in the hard times, is an opportunity for us to grow! James 1:2-4 tells us that we are to consider it joy when we face trials because the testing of our faith produces perseverance, and that perseverance leads to maturity!
Let me encourage you to persevere in your worship. Focus on how God can use this season to strengthen your faith and prepare you to be used by Him. Even as this storm roles out and eventually a new one rolls in, make time to magnify Christ in your life as you lift Him up in praise.
