How do you fan that flame? In one word…CONNECT.
CONNECT with yourself. Dare to dream about the life you want, the things you want to accomplish, the experiences you want to have, and the relationships you want to foster. Put on some inspiring music and imagine that life. Further education is part of what it will take to make that vision a reality.
CONNECT with those who have walked this road before you. Who do you admire the most? Are there people you look up to? Ask them how they got to where they are, and what advice they could give you if they had to do it all over again.
CONNECT with your institution. Have you been accepted to a college, trade school, or university? Stay in touch with them! Read your emails (or snail-mail if they send you letters). Look up opportunities, events, and facts about the location of that institution. The more excited you get about what lies ahead, the more likely you are to have the energy to follow through.
Finally, CONNECT with your TRiO Advisor. If you start having doubts or run into financial obstacles, please don’t think you have to figure it out on your own! There are SO many resources available to realize; your dream of living your very best life! You might just need a little help finding them!
