To all in our Tuesday's Children community,
While we always knew 2021 would be an extraordinary year for Tuesday's Children, what we didn't know is that it would be the year we emerge from a global pandemic. Throughout challenging times, we successfully pivoted to virtual programming, and are proud to continue this new way of connecting with families across the country while we–slowly and safely–bring back in-person programming. Please visit our website calendar for more information.
In addition to in-person sporting events and workshops, we're thrilled to be able to gather this September for our Celebrating 20 Years of Service Gala. This monumental event, to be held both virtually (free!) and in-person, is a chance to reflect on two decades of service to more than 42,000 individuals. CLICK HERE to view tickets and sponsorship options.
While the mission of Tuesday's Children has evolved, there is one thing that will always ring true: our families remain at the core of our work. We look forward to continuing this journey with you throughout our 20th anniversary year, and many years to come.
With much gratitude for your continued support,
Terry

Here's What You've Done In 2021...
|
|
If there's anything the world has learned from 2020 – and the first few months of 2021 – it's that we're stronger than we thought we were. Of course, the Tuesday's Children community already knew they had this strength within, as they've overcome so much even before our lives were changed by a global pandemic.
We're so proud of the way they've been able to maintain this resilient spirit, due in part to a diverse array of programming, made possible by your generosity and support.
We continue to provide virtual offerings, which allow us to strengthen relationships with family members across the country. Whether you're tuning in from Texas, New York or Florida, you receive the same impactful experience and chance to connect with other families.
From wellness workshops focused on the importance of self-love, a career panel filled with top recruiters ready to review resumes, Q&A sessions with professional athletes and more, there was something for everyone.
While we intend to continue these virtual efforts, we're thrilled to safely return to in-person programming. Tri-state families enjoyed a feeling of normalcy at Military Appreciation Night with the New York Islanders in May and those in Texas are looking forward to time at SeaWorld this summer.
Although life is slowly transitioning back to how it was in 2019, we know some things will never be the same, especially for many of our families who lost a loved one to COVID-19. However, with the continued support of donors like you, Tuesday's Children will continue to be here for whatever life throws at us next.

Mentoring Match Spotlight: Daniel and Mark
|
|
Daniel, a Gold Star child, loves sports, video games and science class. He recently relocated from Florida to Texas with his sister Delayne, and mom, Lez, an Army Veteran. While the love he feels at home is wonderful, he's been asking for a male support system to relate to. In comes Mark...
A Tuesday's Children Junior Board Member and longtime supporter of our work, Mark is a Manhasset native who enjoys playing golf and watching sports. This is something they quickly bonded over, as Daniel is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and Mark loves the New York Jets. In addition to sports, they share a favorite superhero, Batman.
|
|
"Daniel loves meeting with Mark. They play and talk about the craziest stuff, typical guy stuff. We are so grateful to be part of this amazing organization and the mentorship program."
- Lez, Daniel's Mom
|
|
As their match meeting continued, it was heartwarming to see Daniel open up to Mark. The pair look forward to connecting weekly via FaceTime and all of us at Tuesday's Children look forward to watching their friendship grow.

DIY Fundraiser Spotlight:
Big Apple Ice Extravaganza
|
|
Expert ice sculptor, T.J., was growing restless throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and couldn't wait to begin sculpting and presenting his work once again.
This past March, the Tuesday's Children family member, and founder of the ice sculpting company Touch of Ice, hit the ground running – or, carving – for a good cause with the Big Apple Ice Extravaganza.
The weekend-long drive-thru event, held at Staten Island's Corporate Commons, featured pre-carved ice sculptures and live demonstrations. Some displays honored our heroic first responders and frontline workers, and others commemorated the lives lost on 9/11.
For T.J., whose mother was killed in the terrorist attacks on that horrific day, it was important to not only incorporate a sculpture paying tribute, but to donate a portion of the proceeds back to Tuesday's Children. We are extremely grateful for the support and inspired by his talent and passion.

Junior Board Member Spotlight: Gabriele and Hadley
|
|
When Gabriele lost her dad on 9/11 nearly twenty years ago, Tuesday's Children was there for her. When Tuesday's Children was looking to fill out our Junior Board with passionate young professionals, Gabriele was there for us...and so was Hadley, her friend and colleague.
Although the two discovered Tuesday's Children at different times in their lives – Gabriele having participated in various career workshops and family engagement programs throughout her youth and Hadley introduced to us via her job at Tradeweb – they now share a common goal of helping the organization succeed.
They've hosted children at our annual Take Our Children to Work Day at Tradeweb, contributed to the success of our Rise Up and Remember: Memorial Day 5K and have attended many Junior Board events and meetings. Through all of their efforts, they've not only made a difference in the lives of the families we serve, but found a lifelong friendship.
Gabriele and Hadley embody the Tuesday's Children values of strength in community and connection, and we're thrilled to have them on our Junior Board. Many things in the future may be uncertain, but what we know for sure is Tuesday's Children will remain and – so long as we have people like Gabriele and Hadley on our side – there's only good to come.
