WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS - May 8, 2026

Baccalaureate Sunday

On Baccalaureate Sunday, we give thanks for those who are graduating from high school and mark this important transition with prayer and celebration. As a community of faith, we ask God’s blessing on our graduates: that they may be guided by wisdom, strengthened in faith, and grounded in love as they step into what comes next. We commend them to God’s care, trusting that the gifts they have been given will be used in service to the world. This Sunday, we are celebrating nine of our high school graduates who will share their musical gifts and words of wisdom and reflection with us.

The hygiene kit collection for the Warfield School has begun.  Warfield is a Title I elementary school in Indiantown that serves 800 mostly under-privileged children. Teachers and school nurses use our hygiene kits to teach basic personal care, and kits are then distributed to needy children.

Please return your kit by this Sunday, May 10th. The children, the school, and the parents will thank you!

BIBLE STUDY WITH CLERGY

May 13 , 11:00 AM

Paul the Apostle has often been read in ways that feel heavy or exclusionary. Join us as we explore his Letter to the Romans with fresh eyes, hearing it as a bold proclamation of God’s grace, liberation, and good news for all.

Final Bible Study for the season - May 20th

New at Good Shepherd—bring your favorite project or craft and join us for a relaxed time of creativity and community in the Parish Hall. Whether you knit, draw, paint, build, or make—this is a space to share what you love while enjoying great conversation. All skill levels welcome—come as you are! Let's create together—we’d love to see you there! Contact Valerie Hampe for more details @ 561-358-3446.

Lenten Project Donation

On Tuesday, May 5th, Riley McDonough, the treasurer of St. George Table, visited Good Shepherd Church to receive our Lenten donation of $20,445 in support of this vital feeding program. His message was clear: “These people depend on us, and we have to keep the program going. This check will go a long way toward sustaining us for the next year.”  He could not say enough good things about the generosity and support of our Good Shepherd community. And he was fulsome in his praise of our own Denise Preston, who manages the feeding program for St. George Table.

It is in working together with organizations like St. George Table that we at Good Shepherd are able to expand our reach and touch the lives of untold people in our wider community.

As we prepare to transform our space into a fun, winter-themed adventure, we’re looking for help gathering props and decorations.

If you have any items we could borrow, we would greatly appreciate it! Some ideas include:

  • Skis or snowboards
  • Sleds
  • Inflatable snowmen or winter decorations
  • Fake snow or snow blankets
  • Winter gear (jackets, scarves, mittens, hats)
  • Anything else that feels snowy or mountain-themed

If you’re able to lend something, please let us know what you have. We’ll make sure all items are well cared for and returned after VBS.
