Youth on Retreat in the Keys

Our youth group is on retreat this weekend at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Marathon, accompanied by Father Groff and Beth Bohnsack, who are chaperoning 14 of our youth. During the weekend, they will share in community service around the church, join in worship with the congregation there, and enjoy plenty of play, good food, and growing friendships. Please keep our youth and leaders in your prayers as they travel, serve, worship, and deepen their life together in Christ.

BIBLE STUDY WITH CLERGY

JANUARY 21, 11:00 AM

Paul the Apostle has often been read in ways that feel heavy or exclusionary. Join us as we explore his Letter to the Romans with fresh eyes, hearing it as a bold proclamation of God’s grace, liberation, and good news for all. Meets Wednesdays at 11:00 AM in the Parish Hall.

THEOLOGICAL BOOK STUDY: JANUARY 22, 4:00 PM

New year, new book! The Theological Book Group continues a 6-week study of Miracles and Wonder: The Historical Mystery of Jesus, by Elaine Pagels. Written like a historical mystery, the book explores enduring questions about Jesus—his birth, resurrection, miracles, and lasting influence. Join us for lively conversation Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the library, or via Zoom. Start 2026 with something new! For more information, contact Mary Lou Crifasi in the church office.

Looking Ahead

GOOD SHEPHERD 2025 ANNUAL MEETING:

JANUARY 25, 10:30 AM

Please note that next Sunday we will have one worship service at 9:00 a.m. only, followed immediately by our Annual Meeting after a brief break. During the meeting, we will reflect on the past year in the life of Good Shepherd, look ahead to the year to come, consider the 2026 budget, and receive ministry highlights.

We will also elect new Vestry members, voting on the following slate of nominees: Alexa Churo, Quinn Foerch, Dale Smith and Stephen Hendrickson. A separate document with photos and bios will be provided.

Nursery and childcare will be available for young children during both the service and the meeting. All are encouraged to attend and participate in this important moment in our shared life and mission.

ARTIE’S PARTY SILVER DISCO BALL: FEBRUARY 13

Step onto the dance floor for a vibrant night of delicious food, funky beats and disco fun! There will be side hustle fun including Silent Disco, plinko for Outreach Ministries, on-site prize drawings, a selfie station, Twister, & “Kourtyard” Karoke! Enjoy catered cuisine with Disco Sparkle, dance to the sounds of DJ Funk E.

All proceeds from Artie’s Party fund the Outreach Ministries of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church as we live into our vision to be a vibrant spiritual and educational community radiating God’s love for everyone, everywhere. Artie’s Party is more than a one night event —it lives on in our community as we work with many local and international charities to help break the cycle of food insecurity, homelessness, and poverty.

Watch for your invitation and registration card in the mail! Tickets and 50/50 prize drawing tickets will be sold in the Narthex starting January 25 through February 8. Please call the church office with any questions.

To donate an item for the silent, live or online auctions, please send or deliver your item with a description and your contact information to Jo in the church office. "Hear These Words" is a weekly podcast from Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Tequesta, FL hosted by our Rector, Sanford Groff. Each week we discuss the passages of Scripture assigned for the upcoming Sunday according to the Revised Common Lectionary with guests from within the Good Shepherd community and with colleagues from around the nation. Listen to (or watch) episodes each Tuesday at www.GoodShepOnline.org or wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.

Stewardship Campaign 2026

At Good Shepherd, we know that generosity doesn’t just sustain a budget—it shapes lives, forms faith, and builds a community where love grows.

When you give, you help create a church where welcome is real, worship is vibrant, and people of all ages find belonging. Your gift becomes the seed that helps ministries take root—from Sunday School to pastoral care, from music and liturgy to outreach and fellowship. It nurtures the soil of our shared life by supporting essential staff, maintaining our sacred spaces, and preparing us for growth.

As Scripture reminds us, we are “built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God” (Ephesians 2:22). And at the center of all we build stands Christ—our cornerstone, our strength, our joy.

This year, we invite you to be part of a harvest of hope. By making a pledge, you’re not just giving to a church—you’re helping love take root in every heart we serve.

Join us as we grow something beautiful—together!

Vestry Highlights

A Moment of Gratitude

This month’s Moment of Gratitude comes from Mike Grashof, who lifts Dr. Ian Anderson, former Senior Warden, with deep appreciation. For many years, Ian has faithfully shepherded our youth, serving as our interim youth director, a volunteer youth leader, and our sole catechist, with wisdom, creativity, and steady care. He also leads our Morning Prayer ministry with great diligence and sings in the choir, offering his gifts across the full life of the parish. Ian’s leadership has enriched our community in countless ways, including the creation of truly phenomenal events, most especially the wine tasting dinner. We hold Ian and his wife, Letty, in our prayers as she continues her recovery at their summer home in Tennessee.
