DISTRICT HOSTS KINDNESS CARNIVAL
|
|
Promoting kindness through a simple message of “Start with Hello” was the focus of the first-ever Kindness Carnival in the Boise School District. On September 25th, hundreds of students gathered at Camel's Back Park to participate in this
major kindness initiative
.

Graduate Earns Miss Africa Idaho Title: Joetta Julugbeh
(pictured below), 2012 Boise High graduate, earned the title of Miss Africa Idaho, 2019, on September 21st. Joetta is also the reigning Miss Liberia Idaho, 2019. She is studying to become an English as a Second Language Teacher at the College of Western Idaho. She attended Boise High, Hillside Junior High, South Junior High and Koelsh Elementary.

Boise School District Senior Receives National Recognition:
Boise High School Senior
Madison Williams
has been named a Finalist for the Positive Coaching Alliance’s Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship. Madison is a senior girls basketball athlete at Boise High.
Positive Coaching Alliance
(PCA) is a national non-profit organization with the mission of creating a positive, character-building youth sports environment that results in BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE.

OCTOBER IS NEXT STEPS MONTH

On Tuesday, October 1st, Idaho Governor
Brad Little
visited Boise High School to proclaim October as
Next Steps Month in Idaho
, a time for students to reflect on career goals and start taking steps towards their future. This time of year, juniors and seniors start thinking seriously about their plans for life after high school. The proclamation recognizes the need for students to make space and time in their lives to explore and consider the options ahead, as graduation approaches.

BOISE EVENING SCHOOL
Boise Evening School (BES), located at Frank Church High School, is dedicated to offering students a unique opportunity to complete their high school requirements and receive a high school diploma. Students sixteen or older, who have not graduated from high school but have earned a sufficient number of high school credits, may attend the BES program. Students currently attending classes offered at their local high schools may also attend BES to graduate early, make up credits or to improve grades. BES also offers older students the opportunity to return to the classroom and complete their high school requirements years after leaving school.

- October: National Cyber Security Awareness Month. Boise School District is the only school district in Idaho to offer students a Cybersecurity program.
- October: October is Next Steps Idaho Month. Visit Next Steps Idaho for more information on the college applications process!
- October 7: 4H Open House showcasing student 4-H clubs, University of Idaho Cooperative Extension Agency, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 5880 Glenwood St., Boise.
- October 14 - Boise School Board regular monthly meeting, 6 p.m. Public is invited to attend. When available, agenda will be posted online.
- October 16 - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for the new Taft Elementary School gymnasium, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Public is invited to attend. Thank you, Boise voters!
- October 14-17: Boise Schools Celebrate National School Lunch Week.
- October 18 - End of First Quarter - Elementary Pre K-6 No School
- October 21-25: National School Bus Safety Week
- October 23 - No Pre K & Kindergarten classes - Parent Conferences
- October 24 - No Pre K-6 Elementary classes - Parent Conferences
- Elementary Evening conferences will be held Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24
- Secondary Evening conferences will be held during the week of October 21 through the 24
- October 25 - No School Pre K-12
- October 29: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for the new Maple Grove Elementary School gymnasium and classroom addition, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Public is invited to attend. Thank you, Boise voters!
- October 30: Boise National College Fair. Students will have access to hundreds of colleges, universities and service academies at this year's Boise National College Fair. This free event will be held at Expo Idaho (5610 N. Glenwood St., Boise) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for students and families. Learn more...
