Boise Schools Educators Receive National Awards:
On Tuesday, October 15, 2019, the White House announced the recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) and the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).
Awardees come from schools in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools, and schools in the United States territories of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands. Nominations and awards are facilitated by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Science Foundation. The individuals and organizations announced are 2017 and 2018 Awardees.

This time of year, juniors and seniors start thinking seriously about their plans for life after high school. The proclamation recognizes the need for students to make space and time in their lives to explore and consider the options ahead, as graduation approaches.

BOISE EVENING SCHOOL
Boise Evening School (BES), located at Frank Church High School, is dedicated to offering students a unique opportunity to complete their high school requirements and receive a high school diploma. Students sixteen or older, who have not graduated from high school but have earned a sufficient number of high school credits, may attend the BES program. Students currently attending classes offered at their local high schools may also attend BES to graduate early, make up credits or to improve grades. BES also offers older students the opportunity to return to the classroom and complete their high school requirements years after leaving school.

- October 29: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for the new Maple Grove Elementary School gymnasium and classroom addition, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Public is invited to attend. Thank you, Boise voters!
- October 30: Boise National College Fair. Students will have access to hundreds of colleges, universities and service academies at this year's Boise National College Fair. This free event will be held at Expo Idaho (5610 N. Glenwood St., Boise) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for students and families. Learn more...
- November 1-15: K-2 Literacy curriculum, open for public review and comment. Curriculum will be available for review and comment in the District Services Center Lobby, 8169 W. Victory Rd., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., M-F. Currently, the District is piloting two different literacy resources with the goal of this adoption to focus on providing one literacy resource in the future.
- November 9: Annual Boise School District Employee Sponsored Holiday Bazaar, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., West Junior High School, Cafeteria, 8371 W. Salt Creek Ct., Boise.
