Hi Hope Ames!
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.
When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children." (Mark 10:13)
Jesus cared for children. He understood their needs, fears, and pains, and he delighted in their simple faith. (Mark 5:21-24, 35-43, 7:24-30, 9:14-29) He prayed for children, and he used the gift of a child's bread and fish to feed more than 5,000 people. (Mark 6:30-44) He went so far as to say everyone must have trusting, childlike faith to enter the kingdom of heaven. (Mark 10:15)
We need to follow Jesus' example.
Caring for children is not easy, and it often goes unappreciated by some, but not Jesus. To anyone who cares for kids and leads them to Jesus, he says, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me." (Mark 9:37)
Here's an opportunity for you to care for children, just as Jesus commands:
we have a big need for HopeKids leaders at Hope Ames. The children in our church are disciple-makers and because of them, our church now welcomes around 50 kids every Sunday morning. Praise God! We need folks who will walk alongside our children in their relationship with Jesus.
You (and really, I mean
) are invited to follow Jesus' command, and you can sign up
. Your first chance is only a couple days away! See you on Sunday morning at 10:00 in the Ames City Auditorium for worship!
P.S. Don't forget to "spring forward" and set your clocks one hour ahead this weekend!
