Here's What's Happening at M'kor Shalom!

April 5, 2021
Parents' & Grandparents'
Book Night with "A Kids Book About"
TONIGHT! Monday, April 5, 7:30 pm

Let's come together virtually to learn about books created for children around such important topics such as learning empathy, understanding racism, coping with failure and so many more topics. These books are intended to help provide adults with the tools to have open and honest discussions with children about these topics for change and social action. We can all work towards a better world, one book at a time!

This event is FREE and open to the community.
It's not too late! Register now to receive the zoom link; click HERE.

This event is brought to you by the M'kor Shalom Tot Programming and Social Action Committees.

The Souls of Jewish Folks
Part One: First Thursday – Thursday, May 6, 7:00 pm
Part Two: Spice Up Your Judaism – Saturday, May 15, 10:15 am
Led by Brien Brothman

Are you up for a little foreign travel? In this two-part presentation, we will travel across time to a foreign country – to the late nineteenth century, early twentieth century and to "Jerusalem" – when it was still in Eastern Europe. For many of us, this will be a "return" to our parents', grandparents' or great grandparents' ancestral homeland. Back there, in Eastern Europe, many Jews came to refer to themselves as a "folk," a word rarely heard in discussions of Jewish identity today. Why…why then…and why not here, now? What does "folk" call to mind today?

You do not need to attend both sessions. Overviews at the end of meeting one and beginning of meeting two will be provided.

There is no cost to attend these sessions, but registration is required; click HERE.
Zoom information will be sent to everyone who has registered.
Clothing Drive
Sunday, April 11, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (in the M'kor Shalom parking lot)

We are collecting clothes to help very poor rural communities in Bulgaria, where people are often overlooked by government organizations. The most vulnerable among them are senior citizens and families with young children. The Bulgarian community in our region is raising the shipping money and will see that our donations get there safely.

Items needed: clean, used, practical clothes and shoes for any season for adults, especially senior citizens. It can be anything – jackets, T-shirts, sweatpants, sneakers... Kids clothes and shoes any size, any season. No formal clothes.
