The Michael Magro Foundation hosted its Fifth Annual “Magro Madness” 3v3 Basketball Tournament on March 2, has been connected to over one hundred different businesses and restaurants since their inception. It seemed perfectly logical for Jimmy Montana, chair of the event and MMF board member, to connect with the wheelchair basketball coach at the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson. This year’s event was the first for the wheelchair basketball team, which consisted of five players who competed against five able-bodied students in wheelchairs to play an adaptive exhibition game in Hicksville High School’s small gym.
The adaptive basketball game, which featured baskets placed at 2, 4 and 8 feet, were vital to the game’s success, according to wheelchair basketball coach Joe Slaninka.

Receiving emails from families we have helped, not only makes our day but this is why we love what we do!
"I wanted to say Thank you once again. After hearing from another foundation that we needed help, your foundation stepped up and made that happen. If it wasn’t for foundations like yours us, as parents, would stress even more. It’s nothing like hearing your child has Cancer and then yet still have to worry about bills on top of it. I will never forget that overwhelming feeling what are we gonna do! Of course our children always come first, but bills don’t stop. With your foundations help to pay 3 household bills and a grocery gift card, you made it possible for us to focus more on our daughter and relieve some stress. We drive over an hr for our daughters treatments and knew when she 1st got diagnosed we needed a reliable vehicle, which meant an extra payment, you made it possible to worry less with your help. Not to mention at a moments notice we need to make sure we can make it to the doctors, just a slight fever can send her in a whirlwind need of medical assistance, you help make that possible. You made it possible to make sure our daughter has what she needs foremost and also if she wants something to make her feel better after going through her chemo treatments, well why because kids like Saylor go through hell just to pray and hope they get better. From our family to you, Thank you from our hearts!!" - Saylor's Mother
