, girls cross country coach, Boise High School, has been selected to receive the 2018 Idaho State Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year Award. Coach Olswanger's athletes were City/District/State Champs, finished 10th nationally and won several prestigious meets

Rene Alvarez Makela
graduated from Boise High School in 1996 where he attended as an International Exchange Student. Today, he is a successful Spanish artist who lives and works in Palma de Mallorca in Spain. His works of art have earned international acclaim by the likes of Pope Francis and he's sold his paintings worldwide, including to NFL Quaterback Cam Newton.

That’s when you’ll learn from nurses, emergency personnel, veterinarians, doctors, radiologists, medical school students, university representatives and more about what it takes to successfully pursue a career in health care.

Informational math nights will be held for 5th grade parents in January 2019 to help them make informed decisions about what math option is best for their student.

District Supports Boise Kind
|
Boise School District is joining with the City of Boise and other community leaders and organizations in support of a new initiative to promote kindness in our community. A culture of kindness, respect & dignity is not new to Boise, nor to our schools.
|
|
- In Boise's two pre-K programs at Hawthorne and Whitney, students achieve excellent kindergarten readiness scores, with more than 80% prepared for kindergarten compared with 65% district-wide.
- Career and Technical Education is flourishing in the District, with 19 programs available, including new ones in the areas of Plumbing, Electrical and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
- All four of our comprehensive high schols have been recognized for 10 straight years as among the nation's Most Challenging High Schools by the Washington Post.

- January 15: Paul Tillotson Music Scholarship Concert, 7 p.m. Borah High Auditorium
- January 15: Rigs & Gigs event for junior high students, Dennis Technical Education Center, 8:20 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- January 19: Capital High School Band & Choir present a Sensory Friendly Concert, 3 - 4:30 p.m., Capital High School Auditorium
- January 21: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No school for Pre K-12 students
- January 22: Community Education Winter session begins
- January 23: Boise School District Health Professions Expo 2019, Dennis Technical Education Center Annex, 3324 S. Pro Tech Dr. Boise, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- January 23: 4th Annual STEM Matters, Idaho Capitol Rotunda, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- January 29: SheTech Explorer Day, Boise State University, free hands-on tech conference for high schools 9th through 12th grade.
