Starting at 1:30 pm, the family-filled festivities will start with an escorted 5-mile bike ride along the Old Cutler Bike Trail visiting some of Palmetto Bay's beautiful landmarks. Led by Palmetto Bay's own cycling guru and environmental advocate EricTullberg and Mayor Eugene Flinn, bikers will take off at 1:30 pm sharp and return back to Coral Reef Park by 2:15 pm. This event is recommended for children 10 years of age and up. Online registration for the bike ride is open. Helmets and bike locks are required for the ride. Also at 1:30, you're invited to take part in a canal clean-up aboard kayaks. Registration will be done at the park. A limited number of kayaks will be provided. Participants with their own kayaks or paddle boards are invited to bring them to the park.
Earth Week Gets Buggy
First Graders at Howard Drive Elementary release ladybugs onto the shrubbery on Monday. They learned they can protect the leaves from damaging insects without having to use harmful pesticides.
