A Letter From Mayor Karyn Cunningham

Another school year is in the books. This school year we have had many activities to bring our amazing schools to the forefront of our community and promote safety initiatives to keep our children safe. Some of these include our
Kid's Town Hall
, our
Annual Principals Welcome Breakfast
for public and private schools, providing $2500 checks to our public schools,
partnering with MDCPS
to have our VOPB Police at our schools every day, recognition of teachers at our February meeting and year round collaboration with our administrators and PTAs/PTSAs. We were also proud to host the
Miami-Dade PTA/PTSA Gala
here in the Village and honor parents and students that work with you to make our schools the best in all Miami-Dade.
This is the pinnacle of the collaboration with our schools. From tree plantings to traffic planning, programming and parks, our schools are at the center of all we do. We thank our parents, teachers and administrators for all they do to make Palmetto Bay a great place to learn and wish everyone a safe and happy summer recess.
As we look to the summer, the Village will still be busy at work preparing for the next budget year, conducting drafting sessions for Downtown Palmetto Bay and preparing and collaborating with local organizations to make sure that we are safe during the Hurricane Season. Be sure to check out the Village's Facebook page and subscribe to the Village Newsletter so that you stay updated with meetings and events.
Our community and its residents inspire me every day. As always, I am here to answer questions or lend a helping hand. I can be reached by phone at 305-904-1805 or by email at
[email protected]
. Together we can make Palmetto Bay an even better place to live, work, learn and play.

Palmetto Bay Standouts Recognized
|
|
On Monday night at Village Hall, several people were recognized by
Mayor Karyn Cunningham and Council for outstanding work and accomplishments in Palmetto Bay. The first recipient was one of our own! Gladys Bilbraut, Office Manager of the Building and Permitting Department of Palmetto Bay was commended for her ongoing sense of compassion, as evidenced by a letter from a resident praising her for going above and beyond for an elderly resident who needed help before a big move.
|
|
Secondly, the team from "Caring for Miami" (Christ Fellowship) received recognition for doing their part to help feed needy children, provide dental care and even offer English lessons.
|
|
We value our businesses in Palmetto Bay, and two special ones received praise: Trattoria Blu (whose owners were busy in their new kitchen and will receive their commendation at a later date), and DOROTA Interiors and Beyond. Congrats!
|
|
Finally, the Westminster Christian School Teams 6855B and 6855C of the Warrior Robotics Elementary Division received honors for being one of only three schools in the nation that earned two or more awards at the World Robotics Competition in Louisville, Kentucky this year. Congratulations and thanks to all!
