Updated Visitor Management System Makes Culver City Schools Safer
There is nothing more important than the safety of our children.  Period.  To this end, CCUSD has completed its pilot of a new digital visitor management system and will begin implementing the technology districtwide this week.  The new system checks visitors against a Megan's Law Database of sex offenders, and alerts Office Staff of any potential child custodial issues.  While the system adds approximately 20-30 seconds to normal check-in procedures, our pilot concluded that we were able to block several Registered Sex Offenders from getting on school campuses, and proactively intervene in a number of child custody situations.  Our schools are safer when we know who is on campus.
New CCUSD Websites Feature YOU!
With technology changing at an ever-increasing rate, Culver City Unified is updating all of our school websites to be mobile-adaptive, easy-to-navigate, and social.  Already half-way through this project, we hope you'll notice that the content of our sites is fresh, fun, and features the very best thing about Culver City Schools:  YOU!
   Relationships & Recommendations:
Now Added To 6th Grade Placement
5th grade teachers like Ms. Masterson from El Rincon know a lot about their students.  That's why this year, we've added a number of 5th grade data points (including non-cognitive skills like motivation and perseverance) to student placement recommendations for Middle School Math and English.  The goal is more students appropriately placed in Honors and College Prep courses that meet their skills and abilities.  And in the coming weeks, a letter will go home with further details and your child's overall recommendation.
Undefeated In League
These ladies know how to ball.  They also know how to win.  With an undefeated start to the season, Culver City Softball's Lady Centaurs are averaging 7 runs a game in league play, and only allowing 1.5 runs per 7 innings.  It's all about pride when it comes to these ladies, and they'd love to see you out at their games throughout this week and next.
