5th Graders Collaborate With LMU's Seaver College For Engineering/Design Experience
Over 100 fifth graders from Farragut Elementary had the opportunity to learn from University students at the Frank R. Seaver College of Sciences and Engineering about how to build and test wind turbines, and the process of iteration and design when it comes to problem solving.  Learning from college students and being on a University campus is invaluable for young people.  It gives them a tangible vision of the future, and puts their dreams into focus for years and years to come.  Thank You, LMU!
La Ballona Parents Share Their Stories
As part of telling La Ballona's efforts to tell the story of their school this year, Principal  Slabbinck and a group of parents organized a SHARE YOUR STORY event that put parents in classrooms throughout the school to share their unique stories with students across grade levels.  The results were powerful.  Much like our student diversity, there is so much to learn and appreciate about who we all are, and where we all come from.
AVPA Students Lead LACMA Tour
Through LACMA's High School Internship Program, Culver City High School AVPA Students learn how to become docents in the world of Museum Art.  Just check out Samantha Koyama above.  She and Allison Goldsmith studied about Laszlo Moholy-Nagy this year, and now lead tours at LACMA for this incredible comprehensive exhibit.
Where Are Our Seniors Headed In Fall?
Bachelor's Degrees are becoming the new High School Diploma.  That is, as a minimum point of entry into the skilled-labor workforce, college access and completion is steadily becoming the minimum requisite.  That bodes well for Culver City High School Grads --- more than 63% of them are headed to 4-year Universities next Fall, and over 95% of Seniors are headed to a post-secondary education of some kind.  Woo-Hoo!
Undefeated In League
Culver City's Boys, Girls, Varsity and JV Track & Field Teams have not lost a League Meet all season.  That's not just good, it's the best start to a Track season in the history of Culver City athletics.  If you haven't come out to Jerry Chabola Stadium for a track meet this year, please hurry.  With just a few weeks left, our Centaurs appreciate your support!
Parent Pride:
Open House Notes To Students
La Ballona's Open House last Wednesday night featured a Parent Pride Wall in which parents could leave notes to their children about aspects of their growth and learning that they are most proud of this school year.  The Wall as a huge success and demonstrates the power of praise and encouragement.  Just a few kind words go a really long way.
Project Prom Makes Dreams Come True
Started just a few years ago, Project Prom is part of Culver City Unified's award-winning Whole Child, Whole Community efforts.  Local families and businesses make donations to the high school and help facilitate amazing prom experiences for students in need.  Services include hair, make-up, clothes, shoes for the "Big Night," and just about anything a young man or woman would need to make Prom special and memorable forever.
