CCMS Wins Lacrosse Championship!
"Winning is the best deodorant."  Whoever said that absolutely had it right, and Culver CIty Middle School's Boys Lacrosse Team added to this narrative Wednesday afternoon in a stellar overtime victory over Sierra Canyon.  Athletics matter.  In Culver City, we leverage sports as a connectivity tool for students, parents, and community members to be engaged in the goings-on of our schools and student-athletes as they vie for greatness!
Coach Morris To Lead Culver City Boys Hoops
Grit, Perseverance, And Determination
The best part about the video above is that it's filmed by a teacher.  Teachers care deeply about the successes of their students, and in the video above Ms. Carpenter takes to the yard to film one of her 3rd graders at El Rincon attempting to make a jump shot.  What unfolds is not only beautiful, but an exemplar for everything we believe in at CCUSD.
Outdoor Learning
Ms. Pulliam, in our Office Of Chid Development, takes outdoor learning seriously and always completes a Life Cycle Unit with students interacting with real wildlife.  Last week, her 3 and 4 year-olds studied butterflies.  And by interacting with nature, these students learned about the value of life itself, and how beautiful our world is.
Football Is Back...
Ocean League favorites after a League Title last year, your Centaur football team is poised to make a deep run next Fall as they compete for a Championship.  The work starts now, of course, and as Football training is well underway, you can find these young men getting bigger, stronger, and faster every afternoon out at Chabola Stadium.
Umar & Sohaib Break Down College Success
The Culver City High School College & Career Center's Instagram account is full of tips and advice when it comes to accessing the best college and career options for students after high school.  In the video above, Umar and Sohaib, from CCHS' Class Of 2012 and 2013 respectively, share their personal college and career paths as they look to graduate from UCLA with a B.S. in Biology and USC with  B.S. in Biomedical Engineering.
S.L.A.Y. (Self Love & Acceptance For Youth)
Perhaps one of the most popular new clubs on the high school campus, S.L.A.Y. (Self Love & Acceptance For Youth) is a highly active group spreading self-love to high schoolers as they consider their identity.  Check out the club's website, and wish them luck as they compete for $1,500 in scholarships through the LA Promise Fund this Spring.
