The Relationship Is All...
Cross-Grade Buddies is a relationship-based program from the Center For The Classroom Collaborative that seeks to match Kindergartner's with 3rd Graders, 1st Graders with 4th Graders, and 2nd Graders with 5th Graders for the purposes of social interaction, trust-building, and collaboration.  In Culver City, we believe relationships are a conduit for academic success, and we couldn't be more excited for all the new friendships being formed this Fall.
By clicking the picture above, you will be taken to an Information Flyer about receiving a FREE FLU SHOT for your student.  Shots are in limited supply, and will be issued to interested high schoolers and middle schoolers next week, and elementary students soon after.  Don't forget to to fill out a SCREENING & CONSENT FORM if you want a Flu Shot.
With thousands of students to feed each and every day, it really is incredible the amount of efficiency, accuracy, and overall joy that goes into working on the Food Services Team in Culver City. Healthy and delicious options for students are a hallmark of their operation, and we're grateful to have such customer-service focused adults serving our kids!
FUN --- it is, perhaps, the most important component of a memorable school experience for kids.  Having FUN is only possible when you're in a safe space, with people you care about, whose goals are similar to yours.  So, let's keep having FUN this year... these memories will last forever!
The California Mock Election is a state-sponsored initiative intended to inspire a new generation of voters about what it means to participate in a democracy.  Last Monday, all CCMS students rocked the vote...  Check out California results HERE .
We've made a decision this year to use the term "GUEST TEACHER" as opposed to "Substitute Teacher" to describe educators filling in for teachers who may be ill, participating in professional development, etc.  As such, we're also training all GUEST TEACHERS in our Signature Instructional Practices as a part of their onboarding.  Led by our Ed Services Team, this tiered training module will allow mainstay teachers to feel confident that their GUEST TEACHER will, not only be able to execute all of their plans, but do so in a way that's consistent with the core strategies students experience daily.
The Academy Of Visual And Performing Arts (AVPA) is a mix of talented students, inspiring adults, and an endless amount of comradery in and amongst it all.  On the visual arts side, one needn't look further than Ms. Hatanaka's room for some incredible pieces highlighting a range of skill, creativity, and absolute magic.
The scholars pictured above have all met End-Of-The-Year Reading Goals, and it's only October.  But that's not why they're smiling.  The ear-to-ear grins on the faces of these students has to do with the brand new bling around their neck.  Recognition matters.  And student motivation is important to foster, no matter the task.
