Without a doubt, this weekend's Parade, Block Party, and Opening Ceremony showcased the very best of our city and school district, and demonstrated the synchronicity between residents, students, families, and our academic, athletic, and artistic pursuits.  There's truly "No Place Like Culver."  Here's to celebrating our uniqueness!
We Have Spirit, Yes We Do!
Out in full force this weekend for the Centennial Parade, Culver City Middle School's Cheer Squad swaggered down Culver Blvd. and brought the crowd to its feet.  These girls definitely have spirit!
Pawsitively Amazing!
If you don't have your CCMS Foam Paw yet, hurry up and make your request in the Middle School Main Office.  Showing off the pawsitive culture at CCMS is a must, and the right Paw makes it easy!
Come out and support Culver City Athletics at this Friday's Home Football Game against Dorsey.  Our student section, "The Stampede," is fast becoming known as one of the most spirited student cohorts in all of Los Angeles.  With packed home game attendance across all sports, this Fall is off to a fantastic start. (And don't forget to calendar the "Dig Pink" Home Volleyball Game vs. SAMOHI on 10/4 and show off that #CULVERPRIDE)
Rebecca Mirvish/Simon Johnson Are National Merit Semifinalists
Culver City High School’s Simon Johnson and Rebecca Mirvish have recently been named among the country’s 16,000 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, and they both credit the one-of-a-kind education they have received in academics and the arts for helping them achieve what less than one percent of high school seniors across America have.   With a newly rescaled SAT score (back to 1600 after a decade at 2400), this achievement is particularly noteworthy. As they move forward, Rebecca and Simon hope to be among the 10,000+ students to advance to the finalist level in February, where about half of those competing will earn National Merit Scholarships worth  $33 million towards College next Spring.
CCEF Donors Complete The "Marshmallow Challenge"
As a way to say thanks to CCEF's Superintendent's Circle donors, the Education foundation hosted an evening activity that featured some S.T.E.A.M. competition building Marshmallow Towers.  The event highlighted Culver City's 21st Century Classroom efforts, and participants did a fantastic job overall with a winning structure of over 24 inches!
El Rincon, Culver Park, and iAcademy Engage On BTSN!
Thank you to all of the incredible teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers that helped put together three amazing Back To School Night experiences in Culver City Schools last week.  Because of these efforts, relationships were strengthened, and great outcomes for students are well on their way!
