Learning Is About (All Kinds Of) Language
There's a lot going on in this 5th grade classroom at El Marino.  Ms. Omuro is the teacher --- she's the one in the middle gesturing back and forth with a student as the class works on word problems in Math... in Japanese.  Behind Ms. Omuro are Principal Shiratori (left) and a parent (right) who both support immersive experiences for students in the target language and culture.  When it comes to language learning, the key is to be ubiquitous.  Everywhere students turn in this classroom, they can use Japanese to get to the bottom of things --- including hand gestures :)
Tracy Pumilia:
New Assistant Superintendent Of Educational Services
Culver City's very own Tracy Pumilia (former El Marino Principal and Director Of Curriculum & Instruction) has been named Assistant Superintendent Of Educational Services.  She begins her new role this week & couldn't be more excited!
