We’re approaching a season when St. Andrew’s shows the world who we are. We are a church that cares about our community and acts on our caring. Deck the Halls is our collective effort to raise funds to support the good work of service agencies in Greensboro. Not only do we put our money where our concerns are, but we do that as a people who work together. We Share the Love.
This Special Edition is to draw attention to the many ways each and every parishioner can help. It might be adding another layer to help you’ve already given, it might be your first step into Deck the Halls. Whichever is true, please read on to find one or several ways to use your time, your talents, to Share the Love.

Sign Up *TODAY* for a Cookie Decorating Workshop!
November 12, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Wouldn’t it be nice to start the busyness of holiday preparations with thoughts of baking, and baking better than ever? How about a workshop for cookie decorating? Register for a hands-on session with really useful coaching by Wendy and Laurinda. Right after church, in the Parish Hall this Sunday, November 12, for about two hours. And then donate a couple of prize products to Mrs. Claus’s Sweets and Treats. That’s Sharing the Love.
Please sign up today, November 8, so decorating materials can be prepared.

- The online shop is open for pre-orders for cookies, chili, wreaths & centerpieces, and honor cards. It will be open 24/7 until November 25.
- The booth for pre-orders opened at The Corner Farmers Market on October 28.
- Carolyn Hackett and associates have been out for weeks collecting gift cards for the Giving Tree.
- The 2023 Honor Card has been printed.
- Sooo many quarts of Family Friendly Chili are in the freezers.

Tell your family, friends, and more remote acquaintances about the event, 10am-3pm in the Parish Hall on December 2. Pick up a few of the announcement postcards, or if you see a place to post a notice, add some flyers. Pass them out to your exercise class, your book club, at pick up after school. Tell people it’s fun for a good cause! Share the Love!
Put up a yard sign. Susan Brannan will be glad to see you at church on November 12, or make your own arrangements with her to get a sign.
Watch for our info in your neighborhood’s news. Listen for it on WFDD (new this year! Proud to partner with 88.5 FM). Share our Facebook event and look for our ad on Facebook.

What’s Going on in Deck the Halls & What Help is Needed | |
Wine!
The wine pull has been a popular fundraiser and fun-raiser, and all it needs is bottles of wine contributed by parishioners. Wine, wine, and more wine, please, favorites or new-to-you labels. Keep an eye out for bargains, minimum retail price $15. Bring your contributions to the box outside the church office or, on Sundays, the Parish Hall.

Last call! Betty Atwell has set up a home workshop for getting donations ready for display. Please take one more look around your closets, drawers, and jewelry boxes.

Bake Sale
When we’re Sharing the Love on December 2, it’s called Mrs. Claus’s Sweets and Treats. Many of our returning shoppers have fond memories of sweets and treats they’ve taken home from Deck the Halls, and will be back to find their favorites. Or maybe something new. Let’s load the tables! Don’t know what to bring? Consult Nancy Rizzuto (336-273-4537), who stands in for Mrs. Claus on matters of bake sales.

Rudolph's Ready to Wear
New for 2023, Rudolph makes an appearance. No prep help needed. Laurinda Stokes has crafted a great selection of gifts like bandanas and outdoor coats and things you hadn’t thought of yet, all for cats and dogs. The EYC kids have baked dog biscuits. Now Share the Love extends to four-legged friends.

Presents Under the Tree
will be huge this year. There will be a wide selection of gifts crafted by the many talented makers at St. Andrew’s, maybe more than ever before.

Themed gift baskets
will be among the display. Casual as well as careful shoppers will want to linger over the offerings. Crafters, deliver your work, a single item or many, large or small, traditional or innovative, by November 27.

Eat in or Take Out at Andy’s Kitchen,
where you can fuel the visit to Deck the Halls with hot and cold drinks, scones, sandwiches, soup (how about chicken salad on a roll and a bowl of homemade tomato bisque?), family friendly chili, and a variety of bar cookies. Snack or lunch, sit and visit.

Save the Date for a Celebration of Mack and Eleanor Baker: Friday, December 1, 4:30-6:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall
Everything that’s been done for Deck the Halls this year, and everything that was done for the many years of seasonal fundraisers that came before, was powered by the dedication of St. Andrew’s volunteers.
One of the 2023 volunteers exemplifies the spirit of giving of time and talent in his unique combination of generosity and dedication. We don’t have a count of the number of years Mack Baker has offered his uniquely wonderful woodworking gifts in service of parish fundraisers. It’s a lot of years! It behooves all of us to pause and say, “Thank you.”
On Deck the Halls Eve, Friday, December 1, we’ll hold an informal, heartfelt Celebration of Mack and Eleanor Baker, and what their generosity has meant as a witness to the spirit of giving. Stop by the Parish Hall, 4:30-6:00 p.m., for seasonal refreshments, a make-it-yourself station for Advent wreaths (especially for children, all ages welcome), and time to look over the Deck the Halls displays.
If there are Mack Baker wooden crafts in your house, bring them along for a blessing. This is the time to extend gratitude to one among the “cloud of witnesses” who has helped us become the giving community we pray we are.

Parish-Only Early Shopping
Friday, December 1, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
It was evident from the attendance at Deck the Halls 2022 that times have changed and Saturdays are no longer free time for some. It can be hard to make time to visit and shop at Deck the Halls. To help with your personal time crunch, make Friday evening your Deck the Halls time, reserved for parishioners only. The décor and sales tables will be in full bloom, there will be Friday specials, like the Advent wreaths, cider, hot chocolate and treats, plus indoor photospots suitable for Christmas cards. And Mack Baker in person.
Shopping! Deck the Halls is a fundraiser and every purchase supports Mission and Outreach. Please consider Friday evening an extra opportunity to shop with a purpose, to Share the Love.
