Tonight, Movies with the Meadows presents the final screening in our fall series of films from the decade of the Meadows Museum founding, the 1960s.
La tía Tula (Aunt Tula), 1964 | Directed by Miguel Picazo
Based on Miguel de Unamuno’s 1921 novel of the same title, "La tía Tula" is regarded as a classic of Spanish cinema. When her sister dies, unmarried Tula moves in with her brother-in-law Ramiro to manage the household affairs and care for her two nephews. Ramiro soon wants to marry his sister-in-law, but Tula insists on maintaining a platonic relationship and living together becomes more difficult each day. The film won the award for Best Spanish Language Film and Picazo for Best Director at the 1964 San Sebastián International Film Festival.
Movies with the Meadows is presented in collaboration with DIFF. Screenings are held in the Bob and Jean Smith Auditorium. While not every film in the series has an MPAA rating, all are intended for mature audiences only.
