Now in its second year, Spanish Cinema Now + Dallas presents a showcase of films reflecting the breadth of styles and talent at work in Spain today, including established auteurs and emerging filmmakers from the international festival scene. After its spring presentation in Washington, DC, the Meadows Museum will bring these films to Texas thanks to a partnership with the Embassy of Spain and Dallas Film. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

This month's screening is Mamifera (2024), a comedy-drama written and directed by Liliana Torres. Maria Rodríguez Soto stars as Lola, whose unplanned pregnancy disrupts her life plans. She resists motherhood while Bruno (played by Enric Auquer) wants to be a father, forcing her to confront her fears and societal expectations as she seeks clarity on her future. This film received nominations for Best Film, Best Actress, and Best Actor for the 17th Gaudí Awards and Maria Rodríguez Soto won a Special Jury Award for Performance at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival.
