Sunday School & Youth Group are Back!
Another year of Sunday School will be underway for children, youth, and adults starting on Sunday, September 13 - Rally Day! Our Youth Groups will begin on Sunday, September 20. We'd like to extend our warmest welcome to all ages. Considering Covid-19, things will run a bit differently this year. The plan is to have Sunday School outdoors for ages 3 - adult on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month from 11am to noon, and Youth Groups on the 1st & 3rd Sundays from 11am to noon. There will be two 11am adult options outdoors, as well as one adult option at 8:30am every week by Zoom only.
When weather necessitates that we move indoors, everyone will enter through the Waubaunuqua Street entrance (unless already inside for worship). All classes will be held downstairs. We will follow the CDC protocol with hand washing or sanitizing upon entry, face masks, and social distancing while inside.
Children and Youth Sunday School
Please meet outside on the side lawn near the fire pit, and bring a water bottle if needed. Youth are asked to bring a chair, Bible, and a notebook and pencil. Younger children just bring yourself!
Age 3 – 5th grade will be led by Brenda Duncanson, Pastor Meggan, Scott McPherson, and Barb Williams with the help of Abby Malcom. We will be using our Vacation Bible School curriculum “Rocky Railway” where kids will climb aboard for mountains of fun. On this faith-filled adventure, kids will discover that trusting Jesus pulls them through life’s ups and downs. (If we move indoors, they will meet in room 12/13.)
The youth (6th - 12th grade) will be led by Mark DeCleene and Beth Paulson. They will be using a study called “Modern Parables.” Their class will be a mix of film clips and discussion as the impact of the original parables told to Jesus’ 1st century audience are modernized to become more accessible to a contemporary audience. (If we move indoors, they will meet in the Middle School Classroom.)
CORE (6th - 8th) & JAM (9th - 12th) Youth Groups
We will be keeping the time consistent with Sunday School, but we will have Youth Groups on the alternating 1st & 3rd Sundays at 11am - noon. We will meet outdoors by the fire pit. Please bring a chair, Bible, and something to write with. (If we move indoors, they will meet in the youth rooms.)
Adults Sunday School Choices
Every Sunday (8:30 - 9:15am) - Zoom Sunday School
This class called “Discussing Mere Christianity” will be led by Pastor Luke online only by computer or phone via Zoom. It will explore the history, meaning, and relevance of C.S. Lewis’s greatest book.
2nd & 4th Sundays (11am - noon) *Two options
“Coping with Covid” will meet around the fire pit (please bring a chair) and will be led by Chris Bivins. Share your stresses and anxieties and learn ways to be more mindful and in control of your feelings and emotions during this new and trying time. (If we move indoors, they will meet in the Youth Media Room downstairs.)
The second class called “The Sunday Review” will meet in the main parking lot under the big tree (please bring a chair) and will be co-led by Pastor Luke and Lynnee Schmidt. The purpose of this class will be to take a closer look at the Scripture and sermon from Sunday morning’s worship service and discuss how it impacts our lives. (If we move indoors, they will meet in Room 11 downstairs.)
